A small part dropped on the table, don't know if it belongs to dominor joiner?

That part goes on the top of one of the posts on the Domino's fence.  You'll notice the opening for it.  There's one on each post.  A top down photo of the DF 500 will show the black plastic inserts.

Not a good picture but it could be off the top of the domino fence post they do fall out

Haa well done Ken and a photo as well.. [big grin]

Haha, FOG to the rescue once more. About a year ago I posted the same question alongside a similar photo! Yes, it's from the top of the post.

And the big question. Does the part serve any practical purpose other than adding an aesthetic appearance to the Domino?

Dave,

Not sure right now since I don't have access to my Domino at the moment, but I do believe it makes my pin model superior looking.  [big grin]

These inserts need to be removed to slide the fence off.  So, they do serve the purpose of keeping the fence attached.

If they can't even keep themselves attached, how are they supposed to keep the fence attached?

Are you sure they're not there to prevent you from hurting yourself with the metal post?

That's funny!  They are held onto the post by a horizontal sliding dovetail.  They do prevent the fence from sliding upwards and off the post.  They are slip fit onto the dovetail and can pretty easily be removed.

One of mine used to pop off when it felt like it. Somewhat annoying. A simple cure is to use some E6000 adhesive and glue the offending stop piece in place. If it needs to be removed the E6000 adhesive will allow this with some judicious persuading. Now my domino is much more stable and the E6000 adhesive is great in that it can be used to and works extremely well for glueing up dissimilar materials to each other. For instance glass (non porous) to wood (porous). Try it you will like it.

Ken, you joined the FOG the same year and month I did. Yet, you've posted about 8x the messages I have. What am I doing wrong?   :'(

You better hope he doesn't take it personally. Otherwise with his propensity for dialogue, you're going to be in for a major case of that keyboard strain.  ;D ;D ;D

Nah! Just look at Ken's posts, he has a great sense of humour, and a way to write it down better than I. [smile]

You're normal!  I just have too much to say, because the room full of stuffed squirrels doesn't listen to me anymore.

No problem, Rob.  Your Woodpeckers order has been modified and may get through customs.  [wink]  [tongue]
