I guess that I have been using wooden rules since the early 1980's and certainly have had a few.  I still do.  As a young carpenter I learned about using a wooden rule to measure inside measurements (usually in small dark closets relegated to young new carpenters in training) and went with those which had the extending brass part.  I have had 6 ft models and 8 ft models.  But one thing about the wooden rules when working was that you had to line up the end of it carefully with the end of the trim or other wood.  Cabinet makers had bench rules with hooks at the end.

I was looking thru a catalog sent to me by Highland Woodworking yesterday and I saw a rule I didn't know existed - a folding wooden rule with the brass extension AND a bench hook.  I wish that I knew about these years ago - if they existed.

Here is a link to the web page for the rule:  http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/lufkin6foldingwoodrule.aspx

Yes it is only in imperial.

Just I thought I would pass this info on.
