Abralon Pads and Corian

Good afternoon guys!  First post here.  Purchased a RO150 for Corian work.  Have heard that the Abralon 500 and 1000 Grit pads are great for finishing Corian with a semi-gloss polish.  Was wondering if anyone has tried going up to 4000 grit with the Abralon pads and if so how was the finish.  Further, was a polish or cream used in conjunction with the pads?

I haven't done high gloss on acrylic solid surface for a while, but I have polished polycarbonate and polyester in the last year.  I used Abralon 2000 for my second to last step, wet.  I use 3M Finesse-It with a lambswool buffer pad.  Make sure you vacuum the Rotex's pad when you switch discs.  I normally wipe the countertop down with a damp cloth between grits anyway, but it's super important to be extra thorough when doing a high gloss finish.

Unless the solid surface is purely decorative, the high-gloss finish is probably going to be problematic over time; if it's a darker color it's definitely going to be trouble.  I did a high-gloss conference table in Pompeii Red for an appliance store that I swear had to be re-polished every six months to keep it looking good.

How long does Abranet last on solid surface? That stuff is expensive $$. Solid surface tears Granat sandpaper up!

Polished looks beautiful, but I stop at 500grit for things like counter tops. Easy to re-hit with 500grit to clean it up. I was also taught to use isopropyl alcohol for cleaning, but read the MSDS sheet on it, nasty stuff. Then again so is plastic dust.

I use Festool Platin for final finishing on on solid surface. It goes form 400 to 4000. For a gloss finish I mist the surface with water. For final polishing, I follow up the Platin with white Scotch Brite pads, I also mist the surface with water.

Are you hitting the white Scotch Brite by hand or low speed on the 150?

I use the  Scotch Brite with the 150 sander.

Did some auto paint work couple years ago, came across buff daddy for abralon pads, not too bad for smallish quantities.
