Just purchased a Rotex150 and a friend told me about a abranet discs. Has anybody got any experience with using abranet 150mm discs on a Rotex150 or similar? Are they compatible in terms of quality dust extraction, good finish, and do they disintegrate easily?

Got some green oak beams to sand, just to make them a little smoother and nicer in appearance, not to polish up. Also some varnish to take off some pine planks.

All help appreciated,

Thanks!

I've used Mirka Abranet on my old sander for a number of years with absolutely excellent results.  I've since switched over to an ETS EC 150/3 and I'm using Abranet exclusively on it - again with superlative results.  What you do have to do however, is modify a 150 Mirka pad protector to conform to Festool's hole pattern.  This was relatively easy to accomplish using a hole punch and a hammer and using the single festool abrasive that came with the sander as a template. I purchased a 5 pack of the pad protectors and made Festool modified versions for both my super soft Festool base pad and my hard Festool base pad. I also modified a SYS3 Systainer to have adjustable compartments for all my Abranet.

Ecellent finsh and dust collection.

I don't know if this is because of the Abranet abrasive, but I leave my CT26 on full suction when using my ETS EC 150/3 and the sander just glides effortlessly over the workpiece.  I have no idea if the sander would do that with Festool abrasives.

BTW, I've found very good Abranet prices on 2Sand.com.

I hope this information is helpful,

Steve

I use AutoNET from Mirka on my ETS 150 and Rotex 150.
Excellent result and a bit cheaper then AbraNET.
You better also use the Mirka pad protectors which are sold in sets of 5.
Otherwise the Velcro on the Festool pads wears out to quickly.
The pad protectors are way cheaper then a new pad.
Together with AbraNET 81x133 for my RTS 400 I store them in a nice Mirka SYS 2 systainer.

They are excellent. I have been using them for ages on a mirka deros and now on a ets ec 150/3.

The only downside I find is that there edges can catch and rip, but there performance out ways that for me.

I also use Abranet on my Mirka DEROS.  I've found that on pieces where I'm sanding across a joint (say a rail and stile) the Abranet does catch and tear.  It does help if I focus on keeping the sander dead flat.  Once the net is torn it just gets worse.  I have a good collection of torn discs that I use for hand sanding.  I have thought of (but haven't tried) cutting down a disc with an edge tear to fit on my RO90.
