In addition to his excellent customer service and friendly demeanor, one of the things that was great about [member=1583]Tom[/member] Bellmare as a Festool dealer was his offer of an abrasive assortment pack in various sizes (the WOW pack for the RO90 was particularly valuable due to its combination of delta and round pads).  With his passing (RIP), it seems like there's a niche that is open here for other dealers to fill.  Are there any dealers who might be interested in filling Tom shoes in this regard?

I thought that Bob Marino was offering some assortments, but I can't find them on his site.

I know for our Canadian friends, that Lee Valley does offer a few assortments, complete with Systainer. While not the most cost effective option for US residents, if you know someone in Canada, you could always have them buy it there and ship it to you in the States... not that I would know how or why that works...

But, Edward is right - a US based dealer needs to step in and make some assortments available. Sure it's a labor intensive proposition, but could lead to future sales down the road...

I think Edward mentioned Tom in his post.

Mirka also sells an assortment pack.

I've used atlas machinery (for us Canadians) for a variety pack of fine finish (Platin).

I've purchased small lot assortments from Uncle Bob in the past.

I'd also like one of them to offer an aluminum polishing kit for the RO90, with all the right grits and maybe some polishing compound. Be easier than buying boxes of all the individual ones you'd never use for anything else.

Unfortunately Tom passed away last December, Edward is looking for another US dealer to fit that gap.

Cheers. Bryan.

I have purchased special packs from Aldo at In Touch Tools, the Festool dealer in Palm Desert, CA. 888-705-6510

Aldo has always been very helpful in all of my dealings with him, and they ship promptly.

Did you find sandpaper assortments? I can't. Please post a link if you can find them...

[member=5]Bob Marino[/member]  am I missing these on your site?

> I just found a post from Bob Marino from 2014 I think, he mentions that he has broken larger packs into 10 packs, but all the same grit. I may have misunderstood, I thought he was offering assortments. Hopefully he will come along shortly and set us all straight on his offerings! Thanks Bob.

[member=48572]Shane Holland[/member] you're awfully quite on this one.

Seems like a great opportunity for Tool Nut to fill a void...

Just sayin'...

This seems to come up pretty often!

Festool Nirvana will create an assortment pack for you.  I spoke with a very helpful guy named Chip, I emailed him a list of what I wanted and he put together the quote for me, shipped the next day!

Website:http://www.festoolnirvana.com

Their phone number is 844-FESTOOL

Note I am in NO WAY associated with Festool Nirvana, just a very satisfied customer!

Calling is all well and good, but it would be nice to have a few sets already made up. Might get some impulse buys that way.

[member=29138]Steve-Rice[/member], thanks for the mention.

I think the lack of offerings by dealers tells the tale. It's labor intensive and we would end up with partial boxes leftover which are cannot be sold, which isn't ideal. So, some amount of inventory would need to be dedicated to assortments. If this was something profitable or easy to administer, I think more dealers would be offering it.

I did advocate while I was an employee of Festool to get some of the abrasives only offered in large quantities, like 100-packs, to be made available in smaller quantities. Ideally, Festool would add some SKUs to fill the gaps.

I'll revisit the topic with my team and let you know if it's something we might consider.

Doesn't Lee Valley have an American operation that bills in USD and ship from the USA?

Yes, but they can not ship any Festool to a US address. If you look at their site, when you click Canada you see Festool, click the USA version and the green tools go away!

The local Woodcraft store originally offered up 90/125/150 mm discs in all grits and in all papers including Vlies & Platin and sold them on a per sheet basis. Well you can imagine what a nightmare that became for them.  [eek]

They have since changed that circus act to producing boxes of Granat, 10 sheets each of grits 40 thru 400 =100 sheets of sandpaper.

That may be a better approach for others that are interested in offering a sandpaper sampler package.
