Abrasive systainer

I want to store my 150 abrasives for easy selection, instead of a jumble in the box with the Rotex.
There seem to be two available but I've not been able to clarify the difference.
The very nice lady at Festool UK actually went to find one so she could tell me the difference, but they only had the SYS-STF D150 4S.
There is also a SYS-STF D150, I wondered if anyone knows the difference or has one and could post a picture?
I also use the Rotex 125, would I get both sizes of Abrasive in one systainer.
Also roughly how many abrasives fit in a systainer.

Thanks John

As far as I can see the SYS-STF D150 4S (497821) is just an empty Sys3 systainer with the insert needed for 150 mm sheets. There is no mention of the number of compartments but it does say it is suitable for 4 grades of paper - perhaps that means it has just 4 sections.

The SYS-STF D150 (497690) is, again, an empty Sys3 systainer with 10 compartments.

I know that in some places the dealers will populate these systainers with a selection of sheets - Lee Valley have something like that on their web site. I suppose that might be something done by Festool US or CA.

Yes thanks Peter, I've Tried looking at the pictures in the catalog and web site but it's not too clear, and the description is similar apart from the 4S which seems to make grade selection a bit easier.
Just wondered if someone might be able to post a picture if they have one.
Might order the 4S and take a chance.

John

I recently went to a Festool automotive training day. The 4S systainer is meant for the 4 stage system for sanding putty and primer on car bodies. 4 grits of paper, new on side of the systainer, used on the other side. For woodworking I will go with the other version after I pick up a sander.

If the insert not what i want I can make my own, I suppose. [smile]

Also found this picture of the 4S

Part number for the regular 150Sys insert is 700830 (T-Loc) version.

The insert for 125mm disks holds five different sizes.  If you need it, I can post a photo.

I use the 125mm discs and in order to not need 2 systainers I bought a syst III from Lee Valley and stack the inserts.

To get both into one using Festool inserts you will need a Systainer IV, and stack the two inserts. One for 150 and one for 125.  To use a Sys - III and get both in one systainer you will need to make your own dividers.

It arrived today the SYS-STF D150 4S.
It has plenty of space for Abrasives, might have to adjust the pre done grit indicators.

I have this systainer/insert and each cut-away fits 50 papers each. I filled all but one with varying grits and then left the last one for "used/in-use" papers. You could fill them all and just let the "in-use" ones float around or lay on the edges. Very handy for sure.

The 4S one has a insert labeled with grid numbers, as you found out already. The other one doesn't 'feature' that labeling.

I ditched the plastic insert. They did not hold the disk upright and they would curl over. I like the Tanos dividers better. They are adjustable.

GPowers, do you have any idea which Tanos dividers you're using? I'd like to used dividers such as that to hold all the abrasives for my RO90 and ETS125 in one systainer.

GPowers should response soon, but I think they are included in some of Sortainers as drawer dividers.

A search on Goggle led me to MySystainer.com, and a brief look at the website shows quite a few nifty systainer accessories.

They have dividers that look similar to Gpowers photo.  They also have lockable T-Locs that may keep children from accessing the systainer.  No affiliation, blah blah blah......

Look nice, but another product NAINA...

Why on earth would they not import that?  I don't think they have to wait for Underwriters Approval!  I was about to call Tom to buy one of these until I read the NAINA [mad]
