Apparently there is a scam going on presenting as an ACE Hardware Dewalt (and maybe Craftsman) giveaway. I have received quite a few emails for it telling me I had won a Dewalt light. I didn't open any of them so I don't know any details. It was almost plausible to me since I had recently bought something at ACE. I rarely  go there. Thought there may have been an automatic holiday entry .

Anyway ................ watch out for it.

lowes, Homedepot, harbor freight, menards, grainger - they all have the same thing

I run my own mail server, so it is pretty easy to weed them out, but I feel for people with gmail account or some other crappy email that doesn't have great spam filters.

Regarding scams, in general.

I’ve been getting trivia questions in my emails.  Click for the answer.

I googled the trivia address and asked if it was a scam.  A “reporting” site said that there was no problem with the site.

But when I googled the reporting site, it was a pay-for-a-good-review site. So the reporting site was a scam too.

Unless it is the Better Business Bureau, don’t trust the reporting sites either.

I had heard that some of the scams created fake “safe” reporting sites.  But until today, I didn’t know that there was a support industry for the scams.

This is an easy one for me.
I never win anything so if someone says I did, I know its a scam.  ;D

I see these in my spam folder sometimes.  The nearest ACE Hardware store to me is just over 4,000 miles away so I don't pay attention to them.  [laughing]

One thing to look at/for is a sender's email address with a domain that contains ".onmicrosoft.com".  The domain will be longer than this with other meaningless characters.  I seem to get these regularly.  [mad]
