Curious what options there are for using other clamps on the mft style tops, specifically the crpaulk style work top.

I'd like to use these; http://www.hartvilletool.com/product/5374/clamps

They would need some sort of upper and lower plate to attach. I'm sure there is a graceful solution, but is it the festool bench dog hardware...?

I have a set of the Bessey auto adjusting clamps and they really work well!  As of yet I dont have them adapted ot my MFT3.  I have adapted other clamps with a bench dog from Qwas and they work well.  I'm sure you could do the same with these mounted on a board with bench dogs that have  threaded knob on the underside of the table to tighten the clamp down.  Or you could even use the small aluminum plate that Kreg makes for there clamps.  It's just a matter of time before Kregs table clamps are auto adjusting.  I've seen long reach auto adjusting vise grip type clamps on the website for Blokkz.  I love the Bessey auto adjust clamps so far.

I think you could mount it to a piece of plywood that has an "L" shaped hook protruding from the bottom, the lower leg of the L just small enough to pass thru the hole and the gap of the hook 3/4". I am not sure if this description is clear but basically you drop the L thru the hole and then slide it back so it engages the bottom of the MFT top. The pressure of the clamp would pull the L upwards and it would lock against the underside of the MFT top.
