Add a ‘Like’ button to forum posts

It would be a great way to acknowledge a post without having to compose an entire message, and save bandwidth on the forum.

Seems many think the addition of a like button promotes some sort of popularity indicator.

I would posit, that a like button could also be used as an acknowledgement button where a full written acknowledgement would not be necessary and would add noise to the original post and discussion.  There is value in just giving a thumbs up without posting a full engagement.  It tightens up the discussion.
 
I've seen other forums where there is a "xxxx found this helpful" marker/indicator.

I would take that over a "Like" button any day of the week.
