Hi everyone
i just got the aps 900 jig wich seem to be perfect for worktop of 60cm and 65cm (which seem to bee the only 2 differents sizes in Germany)
i live in France... i know no one is perfect and ;D
the problem is that i need to use it for many different sizes
every shops got their own sizes (60, 62.7, 63, 63.5, 64, 65)
ikea for exemple is 63.5
the question is how can i set up the jig quickly (without complicated measurement) for each depth
Thanks

Hi

Looks a nice piece of kit but I don't have one however there all much the same.
My jig has served me well over the years but the instructions that came with it were minimal. So I set to eradicate any issues I had with it and used a permanent marker pen to mark directly on the jig any set up lines etc.
Make sure you use the same bush and bit all the time or your set up lines will change.
First thing is to work out what the inset of the cut is (how far into the worktop the female cut is made)
Next is how far from the back edge or front edge of the guide does the cut finish. (This helps when you need to insert a piece of top between two others)
My jig has various holes for pins for worktops lengths but it's easy enough to measure back from guide bush and bit to mark out any odd widths and then line up and clamp in place.
My only other advice is to cut some shims where you deduct your actual width from your next pin size (650mm minus 635mm =15mm shim) and insert between the pin and worktop.
I hope this helps.

i was thinking modifying it by drilling new holes but want to see if someone have some tricks using the rule

Hi leemarvin
Don't drill the jig , the adjustment for multiple widths of worktop is already built into the jig. Have you got the full jig set up with the graduated rails or just the routing plate?

John

i ve got the full set.
I dont think the explanation is very clear but i think i understand the way it work.
Why they didn t made the jig longer as to make the cut you have to stop to untight the jig from the scale then move it to position
so if i want to do a 63cm cut, i put the pin in the 60cm hole (as for the 90cm cut they put it in the 65)then put the arrow on the mark 8 isn t it?

I am not sure about the festool precision this time as the arrow is suppose to be on the mark 5 and not 5.1

Hi lee
I agree about the instructions, not very clear. but it basically works as follows set the jig up with the pins , you get a 600mm cut ,to increase or decrease move the pointer up or down the scale the number of mm required. If you are doing an over size cut remember to cut the right hand side end first.
