Adjusting DF500 paddles

I've had the DF 500 for a few months and have calibrated the clear window.  The paddles were off but I figured I'd get around to it later.  Now is later and I've followed p21 of the manual and swapped out one side.  That seems to have closed the 1/16th gap that was previously there, but there's still a difference noticed by my feelers (fingers).  The grub screw seems to be for removing slop, so am I missing some way to microadjust the fit to get even closer?

From the manual: It is important that the two stop latches are perfectly spaced from the center of the mortise hole for properly aligned mortises.

New DF500s should come properly calibrated, though it seems that's not always the case.

If after trying all the combinations of the stop latches that came with your purchase, and you still have no success, you may consider a method that one forum member here has used by sanding down one of the latches/paddles so slightly. He covered it in one of the threads in the forum.

I trust the locators on my 700, but never on my 500. Guess I need to adjust. The locators on my Mafell Doweler have been perfect out of the box. Strange.

Thanks for the tips.  I went back to mess with it and looks like the grub screw IS the microadjust.  Allowing slop lets you push an extended paddle ever-so-slightly further.  The thinner paddles supplied just let you slop-push further.

On that note, I switched back to the original paddles and adjusted both grubs.  I guess from factory/store someone loosened one grub too much hence my initial problem of misalignment.  Setting it right fixed it for me with the original paddles.
