advice on dedicating TS 55 REQ for cutting granite/marble (non-production usage)

I'm intrigued by the idea of converting my track saw for cutting just granite & marble of between 3/4 inch- 1 inch in thickness. Does anyone know someone out there who has successfully converted a TS for cutting these materials. I would only be doing occasional cut jobs. I've fitted the track onto a piece of test grantite using Festool's track clamps and provided I can get an adequate blade & the dust doesn't cook the motor or bearings etc. I can't see it not being a viable approach. Any thoughts/input on this?

Disclaimer: I've never attempted to cut granite or marble with either of my track saws. With that out of the way...

I've cut just about any other material with my saws. I would consider the ts75 for this use as it has more power. Are you thinking of using it in a wet-saw application? Hooking a ct up to it would take care of the dust issues if cutting dry. I don't know what blade you would use for this application as I usually use my tile saw for stuff like this. You may ping Tom Bellemare to see if he has any sources for blades.
I'll be keeping my eye on this thread for future ideas!

Welcome to the forum.

I'm pretty sure it's stated that this will void your warranty. The TS saws are not made for this application. In Europe, we have some saws that work with our tracks designed for masonry and stone work, which would be perfect for this application. I have advocated getting them in the US market, but haven't heard anything about that potentially happening.

Thanks, Shane. I fully understand that I risk trashing the saw for this application. It's just too tempting not to try it. Festool would probably shake up the market [again] if they brought the saws you mentioned to the U.S. market. There are many stone fabricators here in the States, I bet, who would not hesitate to use Festool if the line-up met industry requisites.

Shane if it helps your case, I'd buy the stone cutting saw the first day it was available.

I also need the percussion drill---now.
