Curious what everyone thinks of the final product in this Festool video?

Part of me likes the idea of using a plywood carcass under the hardwood boards and panels to save time and money on commercial retail work. But given that the hardwood needs to be able to expand and contract is using the plywood a problem? I can imagine pieces pulling away in the jointed areas over time.

Any thoughts?

I am doing a lot of desks and display cases for a store and will be looking for some clever ways to manage the process in terms of time and money but also still have a product with a high degree of finish. All the work is custom designed. Peruvian walnut and curly maple are the primary sources of wood that the client likes.

How does a plywood carcass save time and money, seems like duplication of material and effort.

Yes, I think the pieces will eventually pull away from the plywood case particularly because this piece will be used inside and out.
Maybe Kaylee can explain why she built her cabinet this way.

Use some veneer. It's cheaper than solid wood, and you can create any design you want.
