Allen Kensley Festool Road Show

The Tool Nut shop in Mt Kisco was a great time to meet Mark from Festool..When the Road show is in your area you should try to attend. The show is very informative and a fun day. It is always a nice to see Doug and talk to him on my stops at The Tool Nut.  I have my Kapex all set on my bench,it is wondefull..Thanks again for the saw and a wonderfull day. Jim

My blunt answer is that in my opinion only a fool would pass up an opportunity to participate in a Festool End User Training Class in either Henderson, NV9 near Las Vegas) or Lebanon, IN (near Indianapolis). Those are hands-on learning experience for the participants.

Earlier this year Allen Kensley became a Festool Application Specialist and began the USA Festool Road Schools at K119 near the San Francisco Airport. I gladly used my credit card to reserve a spot and also reserved a motel room because for me that is an almost 8 hour drive. A day before I was to leave I became sick. The motel did not charge me and K119 refunded my fee, which I felt was very generous. Look back on FOG for accounts and pictures of that event.

That was a special event because prior to joining Festool USA Allen K had been a sales associate at Anderson. In the years since then I have had the pleasure of seeing Allen K talk Festool countless times at many dealers, and despite my over 65 years making good money building with wood, every conversation with Allen K opens my eyes.

These Road Schools are the kind of important benefit Festool provides. I think it foolish to pass up such an opportunity, but perhaps your mileage will vary.

Yay!  We're #1!  (I think?)

At least for sure we have the awesomest of photo albums.  Check them out here and here.

Mr. Allen Kensley is an absolute treat.

Went yesterday.

Allen was great, and it was well worth going.

Thank you for sharing about the recent Festool Road School with the one, the only Allen Kensley! From the posts by Shane, many other parts of North America will have the chance to experience Allen K in action very soon.

Trust me, even the most experience woodworker and Festool user will benefit from spending time with Allen the K on the road, and with Brian "The Sedge" Sedgeley in Lebanon, IN and Steve Bace in Henderson, NV.

Wow, and now Festool USA has made a deal for an independent training facility in North Carolina.

The combination of Festool engineering and really effective training moves these tools into a whole new category of excellence.

+1.
I attended at Morristown Lumber in Summit, NJ a couple of weeks ago.
I picked up a full page of hint/tricks. Top one was the Kapex laser lense cleaning. I just thought lasers lost their intensity over time.  :)
Allen's apparently effortless box build has also convinced me to retry the Domino this weekend.

Attended the Road Show event outside of Charlottesville, VA today and got a chance to talk to several Foggers and lurkers.  Had a great time.  Allen and Keith put on a great show.  They also got some FOG knowledge to put in their arsenal. [poke]

Blue Ridge Builder Supply is a pretty cool place and is going the route to rock it as a Festool dealer. I have had the chance to meet several dealers and just talk about what pisses me off when I need something and can't get it locally in case of an emergency.  They are planning for Festoolians like us who are local.

Thanks to all the Foggers and Lurkers, and also to JR and Blue Ridge Builder Supply for a great day and the outstanding hospitality.

Peter

Can't wait for Festool Road School 2014!  (Hey Festool USA, can we be first again? Pretty please?)

I mean seriously, the Road School Program not only benefits the most seasoned of woodworkers AND passer-bys who have never even seen Festool in action, but is also hugely beneficial for our Staff too!  Seeing tools and accessories, current and future models (yes, Allen gets the goodies before us dealers do), in action and building right before our eyes is an event by itself.  Everyone WILL have a-ha moments, and that is precisely the point.

More Road School!  More Road School!  More Road School!!

For those who may have missed it, here are links to our TWO Festool Road School albums, here and here.

And for those willing to fly, here's my latest album from my own training session with Mr. Steve Bace at Festool Training Center, in Henderson Nevada.

Hey I know the guy in photo 27. he works at a local woodcraft , well used to be local to me. I would go in there and talk festool with him.

Looks like he took a drink of the green kool aid.

Or I sort forced fed it to him.

Hes a nice guy, I bought a maxi systainer from him before I moved here.

Hes the guy with the Goat T and blue shirt

I was able to go to the table show at Woodcraft in Norfolk/Virginia Beach yesterday  [big grin]. I missed the first few hours, but still saw a lot and had some "aha!" moments.  Allen is a personable, patient guy.  He made a table out of beautiful walnut which really showed off the sanders and the Surfix system.  Don't miss a Road Show if you have a chance.
