Am I stupid?

So I was fitting some external flush doors last week using my ts55 to cut them to size, they also needed a rebate cutting out of the bottom for the weather bar. To cut the rebate I would normally use a router but I thought "my track saw can do that!". In 4 cuts and less then 60 seconds later it was done. Can't believe how stupid I felt for not thinking of this before  [unsure]

You aren't stupid.  It takes time to realize all the ways that a guided saw on a rail can do what a hand guided can't.

Which is a really nice way of saying not stupid just slow!!!  [eek]

I have been a "professional" joiner for 25+ years and had my track saw for at least 6 years so now feeling slow as well as stupid, thanks [crying] (wife would agree though).

Don't be daft, new tools, new things to learn, new ways to do things, it's all good.

Look at it another way at least you are smart enough and humble enough after all those years to A accept you can learn more and B think of ways to improve...

Just think of the bloke who thinks he knows it all and refuses to change!!!

Now who is stupid?

Maybe not wait another 6 years for the next revelation though ... you know about dust extractors right? :)

I'm always learning new things. Mostly I get from here. but occasionally I get what Steve Bace calls the Ah ha moment when I actually come up with one on my own

CrazyLarry hit it right square on the head!  I was always getting yelled at for asking why...?  I learned I was the smart one for not accepting the answer "Because that's how we've always done it"...all those guys who never thought, or tried different ways wound up answering to me in his a few years, when they Clearly had LOTS more experience than I did, but when a task fell outside their ability to figure out a NEW way...they'd be stuck ....

As a man you are stupid by nature; version 1.0
As a married man you are stupid by nurture; she is version 2.0
Yes it is humbling when the light comes on and I realize I can use a tool for a simple task that just hadn't occurred to me before.

New ideas are never the real problem.  It's letting go of the old failed ideas - that's the problem.
