Thought some of the members here might want to see the craftsmanship and planning that goes into the build of a 23' wooden power boat.

It's been going on for almost two years.  I learned a ton just reading and following.

The thread is here - http://www.talkfestool.com/vb/woodworking-projects/6708-boat-shop-bench-new-boat-project.html

No registration required to read, but Cricket the builder has been very gracious in answering questions that are posted.  It's a labor of love and shows some great planning and craftsmanship.

Apparently he's in the Brooklyn NY area.  It would be a blast to see this work up close.

You're right, Mick, a ripping good yarn.  I just read the saga up to the point of rolling over the finished hull.

The pictures and narrative are extremely well done - everything is explained and shown with excellent detail - no clicking on thumbnails or links to explanatory sidebars.

Thanks for posting!

Cheers - Gary

I thought "nah. Boring boat..." when I read the title the first time.
Have to say I'm happy I came back to take a look!

This is an Amazing thread! Brilliant detail in the shots and descriptions! [emoji1319]

If you haven't, go take a look immediately! And bring some time, it will suck you in...

I spent about 2 hours on the thread Sat morning.  I like seeing the mix of power and hand tools, with some reasons for the choices, and also some ideas for how different tools can accomplish the same tasks.  Quite an undertaking for weekend+ warriors.

[member=167]neilc[/member] Thanks for posting that link.  I enjoyed every minute reading thru that thread.  I haven't visited TF for a while, but when I read this I made a decision to visit more.

Thank you.

. Trust me, we've all looked into the Boat lingo... [wink]
Apparently just knowing Bow, Stern, Port and Starboard isn't enough.... [embarassed]

I love watching NCIS, the Navy crime solving show. The main character, Gibbs, is always building a big boat of some kind in his walk-down basement. All done with hand tools. Suddenly, the completed boat is gone. Cinematic magic.
