Hey FOG... Has anyone purchased festool from Amazon warehouse deals? Any experience to share?

Amazon customer service rocks! Don't hesitate to purchase from Warehouse deals. If there is an issue they will resolve it. Worst case they tell you to take the box to a UPS store, whereupon they print a label and send the package back to Amazon for you. Once the package is in the shippers possession you get your refund. 

I always look for warehouse deals. So far I have only had two items I have had to send back. Having saved thousands by buying from warehouse deals, it is a no brainer. In fact even if I hadn't returned the items and thrown them away, I still would come out ahead.

There was a CTL 26 sitting in the Amazon Warehouse for a few weeks before I bought it - and when I did buy it, there was a 20% offer on too!  It was brand new but the box had been damaged.  I got it for 24% cheaper than the cheapest online new price available in the UK. 

Just make sure that it is sold and supplied by Amazon as opposed to a third-party because you'll have absolutely no problems if things go wrong so no risk. Returns free within 30 days.  Things do sometimes go wrong - eg I ordered a box of 70 14x140mm dominos from the warehouse - but only 35 arrived (unscrupulous previous customer and lack of attention to detail in the returns dept).  None the less, they refunded me half the cost as an option instead of sending them back.

Just be careful about price though - Amazon (even in the warehouse) are not always the cheapest.  Do your research.

Many years ago it used to be a good value and I would frequently get like new products.  These days I find the discounts are usually not worth it.  Sometimes it’s just damage to the packaging, sometimes the item has been used, broken or missing parts, but the warehouse workers have no way of knowing so they resell.  And customers appear to abuse amazon’s liberal return policies just because they can.  Large  items frequently suffer shipping damage that may or may not be disclosed.  My last larger purchase was a dehumidifier which suffered from shipping damage I didn’t know about until a year later when I went to clean the fins.  It arrived in pathetic packaging, but it did turn on.  The humidity sensor was broken, but I didn’t know it initially (factory defect and likely the reason it was returned).  It was only a $200 lesson for me. I still use it today and manually turn it on and off. It’s a reminder that saving $70 wasnt worth it by any stretch.

But on price controlled products, may be its worth your while since the alternative is no discount at all?  There is a risk, even with amazon’s customer service.  If you don’t discover issues soon, you’re stuck with it.  I’m not sure if the manufacturers new warranty applies though, so look into that.

Edit:  "Back in the day" the discounts were 30-50% which made it an attractive deal.  These days they have figured out they only need to mark it down 10-15% (more if it's disclosed as damaged, fair or worse condition) which isn't enough to move the needle.  I still look when I'm buying to see if a deal can be had, but for me, AWD is 1% of my purchases with Amazon.

I recently bought a set of Snappy Centrotec countersink bits from Amazon Warehouse.  Three of the four bits were completely dull and had obvious signs of use.  I sent them back to Amazon without problem and received a refund within a few days.  Many folks have reported the their purchases look new or nearly new, this was not the case in my experience.  Given how well Amazon handled the return I wouldn't hesitate to purchase small items although I don't know that a large heavy item would be as easy to return if needed.

Got my Kapex via Warehouse deal.  No obvious cosmetic defects, but I had to send it in twice for service in the first year -- almost immediately because of excessive deflection on extreme bevel cuts (which the service folks fixed), the second because one of the lasers burnt out (also fixed).

Almost 4 years on my Kapex is still running strong.

Got my Kapex via Warehouse deal.  No obvious cosmetic defects, but I had to send it in twice for service in the first year -- almost immediately because of excessive deflection on extreme bevel cuts (which the service folks fixed), the second because one of the lasers burnt out (also fixed).

Almost 4 years on my Kapex is still running strong.

I'd categorize that as a false savings. Who wants to save money only to have to send the saw in for service twice in year 1.

No, it has nothing to do with Warehouse. Both issues had equal chance of happening if bought from a dealer.

I once found a great deal on the 4m 55mm antistatic hose on Amazon warehouse deals. When it arrived, it turned out to be the 2.5m hose in a 4m box. I immediately called and got a refund. It seems someone pulled a switch and return on the item because it was clearly never used and was still in it’s Festool packaging.

Got a “great” deal on 70 14x140 dominos - only to find there were 35 not 70 in the box! Clearly some rascal kept one pack of 35 and returned the other for a full refund. I suppose the warehouse guy wasn’t to know, receiving a sealed bag back. Anyway, Zon offered a return or 50% refund - took the refund. Still quids in.

Do you search for festool, do you search within the warehouse deals or can you even search for warehouse deals?

I bought two TS 55 blades for $55 and they both arrived in brand-new condition.  Same with a nicer Moen faucet I bought for our kitchen for about half price, which was still substantially less than buying at the plumbing supply house on my account.

I haven't had any problems with defective or switched products through WHD, I'd send in the return if there was an issue.  I have ordered Rotex pads in the past and saw they were available a little cheaper through WHD.  I didn't have time to mess around if they weren't perfect, so I paid full price.

Mostly works, but I have ordered blades and they send the wrong tooth count or I ordered a 670 rail for the HK and someone had returned the box with a 1040 rail - so no check when the item returned. So, you have to just be aware that they could be some issues.
