Hi folks, I hope I might trouble you with a question or two, as I just got
the angle guide and (frankly) am surprised at the build quality. Before I
ring my salesperson tomorrow I thought I'd ask around to see what the
consensus is. Basically, I either got a unit that did not get finished being
built, or it's an anomaly in my festool gear.

The two "issues" are:

1) the edges on the face that has the scale printed
on it are *really* rough, as in unfinished. I can include a pic of my actual
guide, but the places where the cuts are unfinished are denoted in the pic
attached.

2) the guide is off by almost a degree, which
is a huge amount (to me at least) and makes it unuseable.

Needless to say it's going back, but your remarks might help me decide if I ask for a replacement,
or refund. I find it very strange, all my other Festool gear is great, but this is *way*
off standard.

Discuss.

I think this guide and various modifications was discussed a while ago here.  People had added bits of sandpaper etc.  I really wanted mine - until I got it and now I don't know where it is - to me it is one of my rare Festool purchases that I regret - IMHO even if its attached to the shortest rail there seems to be far to much room for error.

I use mine to cut things that don't have to be perfectly square, like cutting plywood for subfloors and the like. Turns out I use it more than I thought I would. I too did the sandpaper thing and I have a bolt to attach it to the rail.

Mine has long ago been relegated to the "Why the heck did I buy that" bin ......

Lack of accuracy, lack of stability ...... just plain lacking
