angled mortise and tenons with OF 1400

Hi guys,

I'm putting together a small table and I'd like to have the legs joined to the top with through(actually flush) tenons.  The angle that the legs are going to enter the table is at 10 deg from plumb.  The thickness of the table is approx 2" and while I know the domino XL can handle the job (I don't own one) and I also don't have the mortgage payment to spare to go buy one.  So the question is how can I get this done with my OF 1400?  Is there a jig out there that can do this?  I'm assuming someone out here has a jig that can do this as i'm pretty sure people have been doing angled mortises prior to the invention of the domino.

Thanks,

Oscar

1) Have you considered angling the tenons instead? Then you could have regular straight mortises.

2) You could make you own wedge-shaped base and screw it on to the bottom of your router allowing you to mortise at an angle.

3) Do it the traditional way- use an augur bit at an angle and chisel the sides of the hole to form the mortise.

Thanks RL,

I've decided that I am going to not angle in the mortises so I'll be using a router and chiseling the rest out.  Thanks for the help!
