Due to the archaic and difficult to work with Felder Owner Forum that has been active on Yahoo for the last 14 years, we have created a NEW and modern forum for discussions, reviews, and questions regarding the machinery from Austrian Woodworking Manufacturer Felder Group.

This is not a degradation of the work put into the long-standing forum on Yahoo. It's just that Yahoo's Groups are extremely archaic and soooo 90's in their style and operation. The new forum is completely ad-free and non-commercial. It is an information site that we hope Felder will support fully...much the way Festool has supported this one. The difference being that the Felder Forum is being run independently of the Manufacturer, though their reps and engineers are welcome to participate.

The brands encompassed by the group are Hammer, Felder, and Format 4. The site has a number of features including info, reviews, maintenance support, fun, games, and general comeradere.

You are invited to check out the forum, and if you have ANY interest in participating, we hope that you will join as a member and give us your insights, questions, techniques, critiques, and general interaction. Don’t just lurk! Join!

As a note here.... We will strongly refer any reference to Festool products BACK to the FOG. An example is posting the Kapex February sale on the new site with instructions to do a search on FOG for pertinent information. The reality is that Felder Group and Festool are sisters in arms. They do not compete, and I believe they support each other as brothers.

We look forward to your participation. Forum at: http://www.hammerfelderowners.com Live as of 30 JAN 15 morning...thanks to the FOG, because we were able to solve a lot of forum issues by peeking at the FOG internal css and php codes which solved a lot of problems, though we still have some tweaks to work on! [thanks]

We are not competing for members. We are scratching each other's backs! [tongue] My A3-41 likes its green companions who work together very closely with it! [big grin]

Best of luck with the Felder forum.  Maybe one day I will be able to cross the jointer/planer off my wish list.

Frank - Thanks for the link, I just signed up. Boy the format looks familiar!  ;)

While I don't have a Felder machine yet, I am interested in learning about them and how other people use them etc. Its certainly on my dream want list. See you over there.... and over here!

Just registered.  The old site was a pig to use so i have never been near it in years.  Your new one looks very familliar  ;)

Thanks guys!

I might actually be able to get a good night's sleep tonight. Getting that forum working was a 20-hour per day affair for the last few days. Thankfully, it is functioning very well now, though I still have some tweaks and mods to do to make it even more functional.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU [thanks] to Shane for the work he did on this FOG site. My new forum uses the same core (SMF 2.09) and basic paid theme from Dziner Studios as used here, and Shane had some issues with getting it fully functional during the upgrade last year. I was having many of the same issues, and was able to use the Web Developer Tool in Firefox to glean some of the tweaks to code he had to do to get some things working. It was a lifesaver for me...

Thanks for joining and I look forward to your participation... on BOTH forums! [big grin]

Cheers,

Frank

When's the Sawstop forum coming? Felder/Euro saw owners and Sawstop owners typically don't see eye to eye. I for one have been a member on both FOG forums for over 8 years and really like the Felder Owners Group and the messaging system. Too many negative comments here and another thread about the original groups way of handling the way we disperse our info.

Wow... Pretty happy with the response in just two days. 37 40 active members from a limited announcement on FOG and Lumberjocks. Many, many guests checking the forum out...much like the number of guests regularly looking at FOG without actually joining.

SMC and the Yahoo forum wouldn't let me post the forum announcement. Protection I guess. Oh well. Word of mouth and Google should take care of that over time.

I LOVE the fact that Festool products are seen being used in a number of Felder/Hammer videos for setup and builds!  Truly brothers in arms these two! Also seen the Kapex in a number of individually produced videos on YouTube along with Felder/Hammer machines!

Thanks to those of you who joined and will participate on both forums. A few actual posts on your Hammer/Felder experiences would be priceless.

Now back to using my Festools...working down the HoneyDo list in Georgia!!  [crying] Wanna get back to my shop in Florida...NOW!

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks for the heads up Frank, I've just signed up.

I'm another who just couldn't get my head round the old Yahoo group, nice to see it on the same format as here.

Cheers.

Doug

Frank,  good luck!  I know that Shane has done much to alter and it is cool that you have been able to learn from his mods.  I applaud you for the lack of advertising.  Personally I have to admit that I am growing tired of visiting sites and seeing the various forms of advertising.  I understand the need or desire to monetize but still I am tiring of the learning experience being interrupted.

I don't have any Felder machines and probably never will.  Just not my M.O.  So my apologies in advance if you don't see me there.

Godspeed!

Peter

Hi.  Does anyone know if the Felder Owners Group still exists ? The post from Frank on January 30th 2015 referenced the link as:http://www.hammerfelderowners.com. I have tried this at various times via both Chrome and Firefox browsers but just get the error message;
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of support out there for Felder and certainly nothing like the fabulous Festool Owners Group.
Any info would be greatfully received.
Thanks Guys

There was another thread in the last couple of days that indicated that there were issues getting to the site.  The person who started that is a member here but in his real job he is out of communication for extended periods of time.  That might be the case here.

Peter

The address does not work for me so I'm assuming this group has stopped existing.

Does anyone know anything?

Pretty sure this is long gone now. Never understood why theyve had so much trouble moving away from that archaic Yahoo Group thing, but it doesnt look like theyre ever going to get away from that platform.

The FOG is a small group with no clearly defined moderator/owner. Someone with plenty of free time and money needs to step up in order to move, moderate, and manage the technical implementation. Which is no small task in my experience.

I'd really appreciate a more modern browsing/searching experience, but ultimately I'd bet it stays where it is for the foreseeable future.

The other group is gone and so is the guy that tried to start up a modern forum. If you don't like the current Felders group you can devote the time and hours into it that Brian, the clearly defined moderator does. Sorry if good info isn't enough from knowledgeable people that are willing to help you with your decisions and problems in their spare time.

Whatever happened to Frank/SittingElf?  Used to take periods off for his trips to Africa, but he was working on buying all the Festools you could get.  Disappeared completely.
