Another built in

Very nice!  What kind of recessed lights are you using?  Are there more than one switch?  I like the look.

Thanks scot! The lighting is done by my electrician.. I know its a 2" low voltage puck light but I don't know brand/make.. It is a nice look ..we copied a pic from houzz.com (lets keep that a secret)  This job was in newport bch..where you in the o.c.? We're out of mission viejo.

I am very close to Mission Viejo.  Very cool.  There is a contingent of us So Cal Foggers...

Looks real good!
I like how you incorporated the "marble" surround of the old fireplace
How did the design come about?

thx tim...the design came about through the homeowner gave me pictures from a magazine that she liked & the rest I designed as I went along(winged it)...especially the fireplace surround

hey it looks great I really like how you built this and the final look with the lights in each shelf thanks for sharing... did you eat at bj"s pizzeria while doing the install?

very nice looking!    i also like the shelves with the recessed lights. how exactly did you acomplish this?    hollow shelves (top and bottom connected by a wider nose piece) fastened to the cabinet with cleats on 3 sides? (cleats sized to the gap in the shelf)    or am i seeing it completely wrong  [big grin]    if correct what is the total thickness of the shelves and what size materials did you use for construction

Awesome project excellent results. Nice work.

I installed seagulls Ambiance lighting a couple years back under some cabinets. They were amazing easy to install and have held up beautifully.  As I look at this project I imagine they be pretty neat in an application like this and be super discrete since you could essentially dado a channel into the shelving to run the wire leaving it slightly wider so the bulbs/sockets snap right in. Or to make it even easier install a white painted strip the same depth of the wire to hide it.

I've used Ambiance on some projects...really nice stuff!

Thanks for comments guys!    Yes it was sprayed in place after install. I agree the lighting on this project really made it.
@ ner ... Your right, I left a gap between two 3/4" pieces to run wire to puck lights.

That came out gorgeous!  I've looked at this thread a few times and realized I didn't even comment...my bad!

I was so interested in asking about the paint job, I forgot to say.  Great Job!  It's the little things like the pot lights that really make this stand out.
