Another compressor in a systainer

Not long after I became a member here I spotted a thread regarding a compressor in a systainer, planting the seed.
One day a compressor showed up that I could score for $20. Unfortunately I have no picture of it before it was modified. So I have to hold it up for the picture.

This is after modification. The protective motor/compressor hood has been removed the frame tube(s) cut and re-welded to make the unit "flatter". I have also changed out the cord to a 25' of a larger gauge, and added the braided hose which is about a foot long that also has a valve on it (tank drain extension hose, although not uses as such).

Into a Sys5 it goes.

Since the motor & compressor are exposed, it needed a cover.

Coiled up power cord and 50' air hose.

Obviously not as nice a job as Chris161190's but I didn't want to modify a systainer over a well used $20 compressor. That, and I'm lazy.  [laughing]

Here's one that's rather interesting.

Same as the original from Schneider which is part of TTS like Festool and Tanos.
But the Schneider is way less expensive. there's also a Senco version
Toolnation Syscomp/Senco Sencomp €499 excl.VAT
Schneider Sysmaster €293 excl.VAT

Someone needs to start selling these in the US. I'd buy a Senco version in a heartbeat.

It's a pity, they put it in a Festool Systainer and not in a Tanos; because its not a real Festool product.

I don't find any other Schneider tools in the Netherlands, only in Germany.
What's the quality of these tools?

I'm Dutch and have my company in the Netherlands, but live in Germany 1km over the border.

They're different inside, but all adapt the same front panel .. though if you look closely you'll notice they position it at different heights.

The insides can be as similar as chalk and cheese!!!

Huh? Well that kinda changes my opinion here a little, after seeing chris's I decided I was gonna build one because I had heard the premade compressors inside these systainers weren't very good....
I got a cooltainer for Xmas ,the black sys4 ,would I be crazy to cut that up for a compressor project if I decided to go that route :opinions;

It'd only be crazy if you're going to regret it! [big grin] take the time to do a careful job and plan it all first. I bet you end up well pleased with the result [wink]

Now that would just be pure lunacy. Who would do such a thing? Oh wait, I would...

That sounds like good advice kev, I don't think I'll regret it, I'm not one to be sappy about "collectables" anyhow
I mostly wanted it because it was a cool systainer color, maybe I could put the insert on ebay ??
[member=12619]BBuild[/member]  of course it doesn't effect u. Don't you have about 6 of em .....lol

In "the other thread" I posted these. It is not advanced modification type stuff -  but a working solution with minimum effort.
It is a permanent solution and it works well enough for me so I won't take it to the next level. It is certainly not as cool as some other solutions I have seen. (cough cough Chris build cough)

Sys 5 on rollerplate, fits a new model Senco compressor, with the carrying rail tubing removed, hose, nail gun and tidbits with room to spare. I can fit another nail gun if needs be.

There are air intake holes, hose hole and power cable notch so I run it with the lid closed to good effect. The drain valve is accessible from the back. It was well worth the while and quite cost effective too. It is really nice to have it all in one Sys, ready to go.  The Sys Roll is permanently attached. :)

Here's another compressor that fits into a systainer:https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0...3213124&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=stanley+compressor&dpPl=1&dpID=519KRRI-a5L&ref=plSrch
This is on the UK site so it's 240V but there may be a 110V version.
I bought it on a whim thinking I'd probably need to do some extensive 'warranty voiding' to get it to fit but it dropped into a SYS 5 without any alteration.
I don't run it in there but it stops it being bashed about when it's going on and off the van and keeps everything stacked nicely. To be honest I think it just pushes the systainer a tad out of square but it still closes and stacks perfectly.
The compressor is quite powerful compared to some of the other projects I've seen here- charges and refills very quickly but it's quite loud. Out of the box it had a dodgy sensor so it would occasionally open the pressure relief valve but that seems to have run itself in and doesn't happen any more.
I opened the case to see what the problem was and was amazed to see that the piston runs dry- no oil bath for you, sonny. I wonder how long that will last!
I'll post a picture when I get back to the workshop.

Somewhat predictably, the compressor for this died. Runs but wont develop pressure so I assume the reeds have gone bad. I am very happy that I didn't carve on the systainer to make it work.

Since I was in mid-gig and my pancake had been given out to my crew, I ran to the borg and picked up a Senco PC1010N ($149). It "fits" into the systainer without modification,... sort of. I am going to let the compressor be in use for a little while before I start carving it up to make a 'proper' sys-compressor.

Hmmm...seems like that label should be changed to "BUILT TO LAST 7 MONTHS". [eek]
