I thought they'd been around awhile ?

I'd think twice about buying another Senco too after being left with a hardly used 1010 that no longer fills up and getting no help whatsoever from senco in the UK.

They need to catch up with festool and offer 3 year warranties.

Joiner 1970 - tell me more about the issues you had. Lets see if we can?

I emailed both FFX and senco but just was basically told tough it's out of warranty. If you saw my compressor you'd think it was new. It was probably 15 months or so old when it started over heating and shutting off. I realised it was because it was taking a lot longer to get up to full pressure so the motor was over heating.

I don't use it lots as I've got 2 other bigger bostitch compressors. It's just handy when I'm using small guns and don't want all the noise of the bigger ones.

After being told it wouldn't be fixed its just been sat in my workshop.

Okay Joiner1970, send an e-mail to stephen.dodwell@poppers-senco.co.uk with an address where the compressor could be collected from & we'll be in touch.

I decided last week I wasn't happy with having my 1010 sitting on its back with the feet off, to fit in a sys 5. So decided to see what I could do to get it to fit in a sys 4 like the one senco now sell.

I took a few measurements and after a few minutes of head scratching realized if I cut out 20mm from the roll cage then join it back together it would be enough.

No photos for this bit. I removed the motor carefully and put it safely out of the way. Clamped a straight edge across the base to guide my jigsaw and proceeded to cut very slowly through the tubes. This worked really well and left perfectly square ends that just needed a quick tidy with a file. I then trimmed off around 16 mm off the other section in the same way.

To join them back together I cut two tubes to work as splines and pop riveted them back together. Fitted everything back together and it now fits perfectly in a sys4. The feet fit and also the drain cock is at the bottom as it should be.

Very pleased with how this came out, I might swap the mft lid off my sys 5 onto this sys 4 just to finish it off.

Hope this helps others who want to mod their pc1010.

That is some of the neatest work I've seen.  Looks great!  Thank you for sharing your work.

Cheers guys :-)

I was really pleased with those joints. I was going to cut them with a 4" grinder but I thought I'd try metal blades in my jigsaw. Usually you expect it to go wrong and go wonky or something but it cut really square. I used a batten fixed to the bars using the screw holes for the rubber feet. Then the jigsaw base sat on the tubes so that kept it square in two directions. I cut really slow and kept pressure down on the saw as I knew the blade was just long enough and didn't want it catching the bottom of the tube and flying up.
