Another CT Bag Question ;)

We're contemplating upgrading our CT22 to one of the new CT's; the 26, 36 or, perhaps, the 48.  Our desire for a unit larger than the 22 is the added capacity, especially when routing or planing.

It was mentioned to me that a full dust bag on the 48, especially, would be a bear to lift and handle.  Which raises a question...

Could a CT26 bag be used in a 36 or 48 when the added capacity is not necessary and we just use the long-life bag?  [unsure]

I don't see why it couldn't be. The clasp for attaching the bags are the same on the CT 26/36/48 as is the bag-to-CT "interface".

a cheaoer option would be to get a dust deputy  and seperate out the large stuff

Maybe this is a stupid observation / question, but based on the fact that I have had bags come loose within my CT-22, if you use a smaller bag in a larger unit and the internal pressure of the bag increases as it fills and the pores get clogged, wouldn't having the empty space inside the CT raise the probabilities of the bag coming loose?

This question is totally hypothetical whereas I haven't tried it.

you could be right peter. it depends on which dimention the capacity grows in. if it was the depth then it would pull away from the conection but if it was the width that changed it might not be forced off as easily.

one solution to the potential problem would be to put some aero board in the bottom. maybe a storage area could be under there for bags etc

Good points all.

Alan has a very good point.  However, I intend to get the CR1000 somewhere down the line and I do not believe a DD would share the air, as it were, over the CT.  I could be wrong ya know...
