This table was made from Chechen and Paela.  I have turned panels on all 4 sides.  One of my favorites.

For me that piece has a very "organic" feeling to it. From the front on image I'm seeing a curve to the top - it that the photograph or real?

Love the work!

Excellent effects with the turned infield.

Please tell us more about this piece and your other work.

I turn the panels one at a time mounted to a faceplate.  I typically use a 1/2" detail gouge since I can accomplish a very smooth cut and minimize sanding.  The front and back panels had to be turned outboard since my lathe only has a 2' swing.  The top is flat, I am showing my poor photography skills here since the top does appear curved.  I am just getting back into furniture and greatly enjoying the many directions my mind is taking my work.

Some years ago I stopped calling myself a wood worker and started calling myself a woodturner.  Since filling my shop with more and more festool products I find myself enjoying flatwork again.  All my work includes woodturning in some fashion though.  After all I am still a woodturner.
