RIP Monty.

Died early this afternoon (AEST) defending his water bowl from a Snake.

Just came in from burying a faithful friend of nine years. Now resting with his favourite toy and chasing Itty (Cat) once again.

Sorry for your loss.  I had to put my girl (avatar) down right after we got back from Christmas. It was a real tough week, remember the good times.

Amazing how attached we get to our pets... Sorry that you lost your dear friend, Steven.

Warm regards, we had to put our Lillie (golden retriever) down 12/24.  We had her for 13 years and 11 months.  Not an easy task, but atleast she is no longer suffering.  Bill

Im so sorry, I feel your pain.

I lost my sweetie a year ago Thanksgiving. Ive been sad and missing her ever since. She went in her sleep, she must have been comfortable her little legs were out to the side .

Thank you all for your kind words at this time.
Sad to see so many others have also recently lost their treasured friends.
As Spartrician said - hug your dog, you just never know ... Only the night before we had cuddled and played on his indoor couch, a now treasured memory.

I am spending this morning collecting up his belongings, some are going to the tip, some to Neighbour's dogs and one or two to the Untidy Shop as memories.

[size=10pt]As we live in a rural grassland environment, his way of death for dogs is quite common around here -  knew it might happen to him one day, just did not expect it to happen in his pen and so close to the back door.

We are in drought so surface water is scarce - snakes need to drink too. Was most likely an Eastern Brown, aggressive and second most deadliest land snake in the world - so he would not have suffered long. As a neighbour said - bet he gave the snake a bite or two too. One nip and snakes will die.

That's sad new [member=19746]Untidy Shop[/member] about Monty. He was doing what comes natural to mans best friend, in defending his and his owners territory, what a trooper.
I haven't seen a snake on our property for a few years now and it's easy to become complacent but because of your bad fortune I will take extra care. Thank you for posting.

I'll be giving my Cooper (toy yorkie/shop dog) an extra big hug once I get home. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, I can only imagine the feeling if I lost my dog son.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my best friend in September. It's not easy.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Our pets truly are companions who are there through thick and thin. RIP Monty.
