Another Plug it cord burned

I have a plug it cord that burned as I was sanding with my RO 150 FEQ. I noticed the burning smell pretty quickly and turned off the machine. As I examined the connection of the cord I saw that there was some melting. There was melting in the sander connection socket also. I was able to scrape out  the burned plastic in the connection socket and clean the posts. However, I guess I never really examined the two connection posts enough to notice a difference in their size. One of the posts seems to have a smaller diameter. Did the burning also burn some metal? i have used the sander once since i cleaned it but not for very long without issue. Would like to avoid an unnecessary shipping cost to the repair center  but prefer safety over the cost of a few dollars. Does anyone have thoughts on the condition and use?

I would recommend you stop using the sander and contact our service team. They can offer assistance. Their number's below in my signature.

Just a reminder that Festool now covers the cost of shipping in BOTH directions if your sander is still under warranty. Best warranty in the business!

When this happens both the socket on the tool and the cord should be replaced. If you're confident opening up tools you can replace the socket yourself after ordering/receiving a new one from Festool, it's a simple task. If not, let Festools' service department do it for you.

Thanks for the good advice. I will not use the sander until the socket is repaired. I will attempt to do it myself.

Don't forget to check your other tools to see if the pins have been damaged (if you use more than one tool with the plug-it cord).  If never hurts to check...

Really an Rotex 150 melts a plug-it and socket Hmmmm....
This has happened once or twice.
No need to call tech support just order the hardwire kit and a socket it takes all of 15 min to change out. if you have a 16g cord use it if not 18g works but is part of this plug-it problem.
Remove the plug-it an the problem goes away.
What the song "another one bites the dust"
Have a great day
