CTH 26 E not working

Hi all, first post here.

Used my Festool CTH 26 this morning on the usual setup - the table saw coupled to a home made cyclon and the CTH. Needed to start it up again, and it wouldn’t respond on both manual and auto. Checked with a corded sander in the vacuum plug, and the sander can get power, but it doesn’t trigger the vacuum. Also tested on another outlet with the same result. It is not due to overheating (it’s not hot and not cold, and it was only used for 30 secs initially), and I did notice a slight burnt smell when it stopped working, prompting me to quickly disassemble everything and take it outside. Here, half an hour later, it still won’t turn on.

I’ve taken it apart down to the circuit board and noticed a piece missing, see photo. Is it supposed to be like this?

Very few people have posted working results for this broken PCB.

They are made in a few different versions. I can't seem to find a photo of a new one in the flavor you have. Do you have a picture more from the side?

EDIT:https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tool-problems/ctl-26-e-ac-says-poof/

Mine seems quite similar, having one less dial. I had an epoxied covered something there. Epoxy thickness varies between each print.

Really hard to tell properly, but it looks to me like maybe it's a a triac or mosfet that has blown apart. Did you find the other part of the component when you opened it up?

If so it could be possible to replace that component with a bit of work. Although replacing the board might be the far easier long term solution.
