Hi Chaps

Just some pictures of the UG Kapex extension , with MFT and VL (CMS). They work with the saw module as well and are great supports when crosscuting very long  panels on the MFT.

Sorry to our American Foggers. [embarassed]

Guys not rubbing your noses in it. [smile]

Regards To All

John

You little Poo I was going to load up some Pictures having the Arm Extensions attached.   Oh well beat me to it!

How come you seem to have the router setup facing away from the table I assume having it facing the table would be better?!  I think its better for 2 reasons.

1. You can use the MFT for more support as well as the Arm extensions

2. You dont have to walk around the arm extensions to do a cross cut and then go to router. because its all on one side.

+ I dont see any bad points having it the other way unless you have one?!?!?

Edited:

Oh maybe 1 bad point the MFT square fence could get in the way I suppose so you would have to remove it to router something bigger

Cheers JMB

Nice setup. And a nice illustration of the 'system' advantages.

As far as turning the router module around, I would think one would need to walk around to the back of the MFT to feed the router after a crosscut on the table. Tht's probably about the same distance as walking around an extension.

Hi JMB

Have you ever "worked" a spindle moulder?

By "worked" I mean hand fed.

John

Yes but its a much larger machine and your doing much larger cut outs unlike this festool upside down router is smaller and your not doing large cut outs so its easier to feed wood through.

I assume your trying to say you need to have a good hold while feeding.  The ones I have used have self feed rollers any way so no I have not used a large spindle hand feeding..

Ah very true but you can easily pull the timber back once its bin fed through?!?!? Maybe not the safest way to do it.

Whats the story with these warning banners on every thread ?  Is it the "blame" culture kicking in again.  If i post a warning then I'm not liable ??

Yeah I noticed that. At first I thought it was some ones thing what you call it you know how people have all their tools listed at the bottom of every post they post. I thought it was one of the users. Untill I went on other Topics and saw it again first though bloody hell this guy is every where till I realised it was after every first post.  Silly me [embarassed]

Quite funny actually, in this thread, as it is what Festool actually goes to great lengths to promote, THE SYSTEM approach to woodworking!
Shane you need to look at this new occurence with the system approach in mind. If we must have this banner caveat on this great site would it not be better served being placed upfront on the home page? ( or as a to be read before being allowed to sign up?)

Rob.

Evening

Only just noticed the warnings. As Rob pointed out my pictures show a 100% Festool set up and i thought the idea behind the V groove was so that system accessories could be inter changed. Think we may be being subjected to the litigious society. I their legal guys say they must , they will have to.

JMB

With the very greatest respect, I think you should seek some instruction in the use of spindle moulder and router tables (that can swing 89mm dia cutters). Please do not take offence at this.

I dont.

Well I wont be using a 89mm dia cutter and if so I would obviously alter the way I work but all I would ever use it for is either putting a bevel on the edge or a very small mould or a channel in timber or sheet material or make circles and/or put rebates on circles. I proper wont even have the fence set up most the time I would just have a cutter with a wheel.

If I loose my fingers ill let you know ill have to get some one to type though wont I. [tongue]

JMB

I don't understand why the size of the cutter would change the way one would work.

One needs to be safe and use the proper technique no matter the size of the cutter, the littlest router bit can suck you in if you feed the wrong way, etc.
