Another Woodworking Show Using Festool

While Memorial Day (in the USA) is specifically to remember the fallen, it certainly doesn't hurt to make note of military service veterans in general.

Jory, I enjoyed your talk at Connect. Thanks from taking time out of your busy day to reply on FOG.

Since Framework is over I hope you enjoy your new and very different role on Last Man On Earth. Will you get to do any furniture building on that show?  [wink]  [big grin]

First project:  Fix Carol's door.

Someone need to show Scott Phillips the correct way to hold the CXS.  [eek]

Drop leaf?

Did he make a proper rule joint - if so I'd love to see his method if the show shows this side of the pond?

I think the question that needs to be asked is > DOES FESTOOL HAVE ANY RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS SHOW (ie did they give him the tools, paid him, etc etc)

Perhaps you can elucidate why that would be important or of any consequence?  It isn't to me.

Cheers,
Frank (Now back in the "fun house" of Nigeria)

Well, it's called guerilla marketing, product placement or other things. Bond has his Rolex, then Omega. He has his Aston Martin, then his BMW for a while (lol) whilst baddies drive Jaguars.

I mean, we don't see that chap who won the Framework thing around here so much any more do we. Not since he did the video for Festool America and we saw him use some Festools on the show.

I'd love to be wrong mind you, it's just that when you go to a trade show there are more Festool employees there than any other single company.

Bosch leave it to a shop to represent them, as do Mafell, and nearly every other manufacturer I can think of. So whist it may not be important (to you) it is interesting?

Festool's marketing is a thing to behold. I ought to know, I'm writing on a part of it right now.

Oh man Wuffles, I feel like you're calling me out:) Ive been meaning to get back on this. Its always a lot of fun but its been hectic around the shop these days. There seems to be a lot of questions surrounding whether or not Festool pays people to help them with marketing. Heres how things go down. Although I speak for myself I can assure you that I know a handful of other guys who  there face and body out to Festool for no other reason than they are a pretty fun group of guys to work with and sometimes they pay you in tools when they shoot at the shop.... As for the youtube video those are things I do for myself and Festool reposts them on their site sometimes. When Framework started I had been working with Festool for a few years, so it was more or less a coincidence that Festool sponsored the show. I was of course overjoyed that Framework not only had lots of Festool in the shop but also let me bring my own tools. Of course the tools I brought were mostly comprised of my favorite tools which happen to be Festools.

Long time YouTube subscriber Jory.  Hope things are going well for you and the check (cheque) turned up ok.

Ahah, sensitivity you call it?  Personally, I would call it by a different name.....

Jory, I don't think you owe anyone an explanation, period.  Some here will keep thinking what they want, others can appreciate your contributions, hard work and awesome designs.

Gary

Some can do both Gary, things aren't always as simple as you tend to intimate.

Scott Phillips of American Woodshop is at it again.  Today, he used a Domino XL to cut a through mortice for a trestle table with a wedged through tenon table base among other joints.  Besides the Domino, he was using the Kapex, Carvex, RO90, DE, CXS, and MFT.  He even had a small systainer stack going in the background.
