About to get a van and looking at the Citroen Dispatch (Jumpy to the rest of the world). Peugeot and Fiat have their own variants in the Expert and Scudo which seem fairly similar.

I'm looking at a used vehicle in the new shape, so 2008 onwards. Budgeted around £3 to £3.5k for a van. This is going to be occasional use for materials collection and the odd delivery so don't want anything fantastic, just a good clean van. I like the idea of three seats as my youngest is still at home and it gives some flexibility in people logistics. I understand that 4x8 sheets will go in upright at an angle and the roof space allows for a fairly large rack if internal sheet storage is a problem.

Any users out there, any comments or gotchas about the van?

I have a Citroen Jumpy L1H1 version from 2008.
I bought it second hand with only 13,000 km on the meter.
It came with three seats in the front, a stainless roof rack and a tow hook, exactly how I wanted it.
Whole sheets of plywood just don't fit in the back, but can more be easily put on the roof rack, which has a roller on the end. The interior then is still usable for equipment.
Last December I had a complete Bott interior installed with all the bells and whistles. It costed nearly more then the van itself.
The next time I would look for a L2H1 version which has slightly longer interior. Or another type of van where you can stand upright.

Thanks for that Neeleman, that's a similar spec to where I want to end up. I like the idea that the van is fairly small yet seats 3, and has a decent roof space to house a full size rack.

I was advised that the Peugeot version, the expert will take 4x8's standing on their end at an angle. It looks to small to me but then I've never measured on the flesh. Thanks for the heads up on this being not possible.

I have been looking at the LWB versions but to be honest, I don't need that much space as I will fit a roof rack (if not already on) and acquire a trailer in the near future anyhow.

Here is a picture of the internal dimensions of the Jumpy L1H1/L2 which will be the same for Peugeot/Fiat.
It's a bad picture but the internal storage length is 2254 mm. While the L2 has 2584 mm length.
But if you have a separation wall between both compartments there is less space.
At an angle it may suit but not any more if you have a storage system build in on both sides like it did.

I bought 1 about 6 years ago 125k on the clock cab was good but the back wasn't much bigger than a Peugeot partner I had, within 2 years every lock went (plastic lugs inside) and various other issues, I ended up selling to a scrap dealer, personally I don't think I would have another

Quick update on this thread. Just put a deposit on a Dispatch. New shape 57 plate, LWB enterprise edition.

Will report back when acquired.

Thanks for the advice.
