Attached is a picture of the side of my cabin in NY. The siding is actually made of slabs of American Chestnut. The American Chestnut (Castanea dentata) is a large, deciduous tree of the beech family native to eastern North America before the species was devastated by the chestnut blight, a fungal disease. It is a beautiful wood when finished.
Q: I would like to spotlight the natural beauty of the wood by protecting it from the elements. I believe they used to use a varnishin the past but would like to get any other ideas. I realize that I have a lot of sanding to do so the RO 90 DX will be getting a workout. I have been going to camp there since I was born over 40 years ago amd I can't remember when the last time it was done on this cabin. Other people in the camp ground have used solid stains but in my opinion its a crime
