Any Kreg K5 feedback?

The vacuum port on the K5 is a joke - it will not stay in.

The vacuum port was really surprising over how rugged the older K4 port was. I am still amazed that Kreg hasn't been forced to offer a better port for the K5  [mad]

That's odd.  The vacuum port on my K5 does not fall off.  In fact, I cannot even pull it off.  Wonder what the difference is?

You'd really know it if you had the flimsy version... [embarassed]
The box tabs of the K5 port will pop out of where it attaches to the jig with no real pressure. Which means when you hook a vacuum hose up to it, the added weight makes it that much easier to pop the dust port off. [mad]

Not to hijack this thread but anyone have the kreg jig foreman?  Seems like after drilling pocket holes for hours my arm would love for me to have one! [eek]

Same here... mine's actually kinda hard to get off the base.... just poor quality control on that part maybe?

Yes but----

I am more of a tool collector right now than a user! My friend in CA does a lot of woodworking and he and I both bought the electric Foreman machines at the same time. I have just drilled a few test holes so far, and I made a cradle for the machine to sit in on of Kregs metal stands. My friend has used his Foreman extensively and seems to like it quite a bit. He made seperate small stands on each side with rollers to hold longer material. For the price, the machine has some quirks, and the dust collection is an issue. But it sure does beat hand drilling if you are doing a ton of holes. I see now that Shop Fox has a similar machine, though I don't find any reviews on it yet.

I have the UJK jig shown above.  It is my first pocket hole jig but it is very well made and works well.  The clamp doesn't have much range between too thin and too thick but if you get the kit you get a mole-type grip too.  I think the clamp position can be changed on the baseplate jig for thicker stock but it would be a massive faff to change repeatedly. Dust extraction is very good but the supplied torx bit is already showing signs of wear at the tip.

PS: Oops, should have said 'hi everybody', first post. Finally at that stage in life when I can treat myself to some better tools - I've only recently discovered Festool but I think there may soon be a few Festools in my collection.

I got the ujk one recently as well.
Good dust extraction and solid construction. Main reason i got it was as it can be undone and altered so i can use it on my new pocket drill table jig.

[welcome] [welcome].  You got a Torx bit, hmm, I guess we get the square drive screws and bit driver by default over here since I hear that Square Drive is rare in Europe.. [huh]

I bought the ujk set too recently. Its very solid. The black metal base looks like just a thin bent metal plate but when you get it you see its a really thick gauge metal and its really heavy.

Other places do sell them as I didn't get mine from axminster. I think it was a company called "quality woodworking tools"

Not sure if any will ship to the US though

The Axminster site mentions 'worldwide' delivery but you may find it would be quite pricey.
