Any Motorsport Enthusiasts ??

I'm more into drag racing. That 300 MPH in under 4 seconds is a amazing.

Here's another intro to fun. From a woodworking point of view the barn is awesome.

Street rod enthusiast here.  Just bought an '86 Chevy El Camino (analogous to an Aussie ute, more or less) yesterday.  I had been (not) working on a '48 Chevy that I finally admitted I would never finish but wanted to use the driveline I had collected - an LT1 engine and automatic transmission out of a '95 GM full size sedan with only 33K miles on them.  The El Camino became available without engine and transmission for reasons too complicated to go into here and appears to be in great shape.

The '48 Chevy is just a shell of a car and would have taken forever to get to the stage of completion of the El Camino so I'm stoked I may finish it in this lifetime.

Here's a shot of it in the seller's garage before he pulled the engine.  Potato image quality courtesy my brother's phone.

I generally would rather be doing than watching, so I was lucky enough to get to do 8 laps at the ring a few years ago. A foggy, sunny, wet, damp, dry mixture.

Used a Suzuki Swift from rent4Ring and it was pretty ideal for the day.
Stayed at the Queen of the Ring's family hotel/B&B.

I'm looking forward to Monaco, Indy and the NASCAR 600 mile race on Sunday.
A great day for motor racing.

Steve

I'll defiantly watch Indy. Hope to get to see part of the 600.

If you ever get a chance go take the tour of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Truly an amazing place.

That looks like fun. Would probably scare the crap out of me going that fast on a dirt road lined with trees.

[member=40772]Holmz[/member] Cool, definitely on the bucket list. Agree, driving is better than watching. Been fortunate to drive several of our local tracks in the NE, ranging from Mosport, Mont Tremblant, Limerock, WatkinsGlen, NIH etc.

[member=4105]tjbnwi[/member] yep, seen F1 @ Indy twice. Very nice.

[member=3693]mwildt[/member], you have to take the tour of the track. So many things have been created there it is mind boggling.

Big enthusiast as noted by my avatar...motorcycles, Indy, F1, fuel dragsters, World of outlaws...it's all great stuff. Unlimited hydros are also fun to watch. Traveled to Speedway Indiana for 10 consecutive years just to hear Jim Nabors sing.  What a rush...sat in the second row in corner 2, after a few hours, our faces were muddied with dirt and tire rubber...basically the motor heads equivalent to the red badge of courage.

...

There are few turns there, soI would not try to be too serious about making lap records, but some time on a play station (or whatever they are called)... Would help to not come out of a turn on a totally hosed-up/wrong line.
Naturally, being a guy, I do not read instruction manuals and I noted what "should be done" irrespective of what I did  [wink]

Rent4ringhttp://www.rent4ring.de/en/rentals-for-the-nordschleife.html is good.
I liked the Swift, and it was plenty of car for my Holmz-skillz.  [cool]
But other places have more expensive and faster equipment.
