Any Other worthwhile online fora, forums, and other learning resources besides the FOG?

I've never been a social media type. Don't have a FACEBOOK page, and to the extent that I contribute to and update my Google+ and YouTube accounts it's simply to upload and publicize music I like.  But being on the FOG for a little over a year now has been life changing for me in terms of my carpentry, so I'm now thinking about investigating other woodworking and tool fora on the internet.  I'm wondering what people like and use outside of the FOG?  The only other one I know vaguely about is lumberjocks.  Thanks.

by the way, 'fora' is generally used when talking of the physical roman public squares.  you might be better understood using 'forums' in this case.

semantics aside, there are lots of other woodworking forums that could be quite useful for you.  such as:  sawmill creek. woodnet, wood central, routerforums.  there's a mafell users group, talkFestool and so on.  I cycle through them all rather casually and infrequently because there are a lot of other design blogs, ezines and forums that I'm more interested in.  So someone who might spend more time on the wood ones might be of more help as to their specific strengths.  what will probably be true of all of the woodworking ones, is what you get on the FOG:  lots of great and useful information--you just have to sift through a whole bunch of other stuff to get to it.

One of the forums that I like is The Garage Journal. The forums are at http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/

Lots of great folks. The site is tilted towards people working on cars, machines etc in their garages so it is not woodworking centric, although there are some woodworkers as well. BUT there a lot of great threads on shop builds and tons of threads on organizing your work space, tools and storage areas that translate very well.

If you are interested in welding and fabricating there are some VERY talented people that are willing to share.

check it out.

I like Mafell Users Forum, woodworking.de, byggahus.se, talkfestool.
Then i've prenumerated Peter Parfitts' New Brit Workshop and halfinchshy's channels on utube.

<<Edit:  I have renamed the thread in an effort to help the OP get relative responses.

I have found a few;

http://owwm.org (useful for machinery and woodworking)

http://finewoodworking.com (paid subscription made cheaper if you subscribe to their magazine)

http://www.woodworkingtalk.com (annoying popup commercials)

http://www.wood-database.com/wood-articles/gluing-oily-tropical-hardwoods/ (wood data base)

I should have included Finehomebuilding.com  https://subscribe.finehomebuilding.com/magazine/theme/ppc1?gclid=CJynqZLM1McCFZSCfgodCJQMeg as well (again paid subscription)

Some good historical content on TalkFestool.com.

I also like Journal of Light Construction -
http://www.jlconline.com

+1 on FineWoodworking.  You do need to pay to subscribe and gain full access but that gives you access to a lot of historical plans and magazine content as well.  Plus the forums.

+1 on garagejournal.com - to whet your appetite, two of my favorite threads there:

- Mid Century Moto Mecca Makeover - Sakura is also a member here on FOG, and his craftsmanship is amazing - http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185104

- Tool Organization - a great thread on tool and shop organization -
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174553

Sawmillcreek.org is a long standing forum on general woodworking.  I'm a member there but don't post much.  They can be a little restrictive on postings, but it has a huge membership and a lot of good content.
You can pay them $10 per year and it removes advertising if you are interested.

I just lost a day and a half to those two threads.  Very impressive.  I was walking around talking about how I need a mill, lathe, and some old motorcycles.  The wife is a little upset, I don't think you will make the Christmas Card list this year Neil.

Old motorcycles .... they're the perfect side project. In reality you never "need" to finish it either, but they're always there to tinker with.

OK - I'm officially putting one on the list [wink] thanks [crying]
