This site is great but now with the new contest... everyone is like  teenage girl... with an up-flextion to the speech pattern that puts a "?" at the end of every sentence.

How soon before we get... "Does my Kapex stand make me look fat?" ....

I seeing re-posts of old questions that have been answered.... to the point of nauseous

Festool could have just picked some from the pool but now the pool is being flooded with... ? and then "yea that works" answer statements...

Just me? or does the subject line "Topic: LR 32 Guide Rail ?" sound like something from Jeopardy not this site.

Tell me if I'm out of line... tell me.... better yet tell me in the form of a question....

Losing interest in the site.... as I want to learn from people. here ...  not...have to wade through junk Q and A...

Just my thoughts...

Cheers from the radical?
Steve?????

So they should promote that people just post fluff?  That is not a well defined contest...  Festool could just ask for people to enter the contests...not flood the site with "Does my TS 55 match my outfit? and get answer, yes these work shorts do match but you might find these pants with knee pads are better match after labor day as you don't want to wear white then.

Cynical ;-) ,
Steve

Hey if we can't have fun.. why be here.... [popcorn]

The Kapex doesn't make you look fat, Steve; loaded, but not fat  [tongue]

More seriously: which came first? mortise or tenon?

First, my apologies to Steve and anyone else who feels like the contest has not met the objective of creating new content and discussions on the forum. I should restate that the rules specify that the questions and answers must be substantive. If the impression is that you posting, as Steve calls it "fluff", it will not be considered a valid entry into the contest.

If this contest turns into a bunch of nonsense being posted on the forum, we will not sponsor future forum contests.

Feel free to report (using the link on the thread) any posts you feel are "fluff".

As an aside, anyone who is complaining about the lack of quality content recently is certainly welcome to contribute quality content. [big grin]

Steve,
I tend to agree with your assessment.  But, how could I disagree with someone with the UserID: Steve R    ;D

I think the Banner for the CXS could have been better thought out. One shouldn't need incentive to join the site. If the site, it's content and motivations aren't sufficient to get you to join then this may not be the site for someone.
However, as much as I have read question posts that sounded pretty dumb to me. They may have not seemed dumb to the poster. All of us in the trades have asked a question at some point that realistically we should have, or once did know the answer to but others thought was a dumb question with an obvious answer.
It doesn't seem like it takes so long to skip 'dumb' questions that those 'dumb' questions should be curtailed. I thought the question about the elongated LR 32 holes was actually pretty good. I have wondered that myself but never bothered to ask.
Frankly, I think I'm too dumb to ask a smart enough question to win the CXS so I won't enter. BTW I liked the CXS I bought and held onto for an hour.

Oh...it was the Egg..... not mortise that came first..... [big grin]

Cheers,

[eek] a name like that.... oh... I feel sorry for you....  [big grin]

I feel this contest was intended to promote guests and people whom don't regularly post ask questions. Of coarse you will get a few bad questions, hopefully they won't be added into the drawing. This forum is the most active and best one I belong to. I love all the diverse posts and the different people from around the world. And I especially love the fact that the Fog allows us to talk about non Festool products. I still think their is plenty of great posts and I like it when people bring up things that were talked about in the past. Things change, maybe someone can tell us something that wasn't spoken about in a previous post or of a new and better way to do something.

Steve,

I think the rules are clear, check below: in bold and the 3rd one fron the bottom.

Contest Rules

  • Post a question or reply with an answer to a question about a Festool power tool or accessory in the "Festool Tool & Accessories" or "Festool How To" sections of the forum to be entered into the contest.
  • Questions and/or answers be your own original material.
  • You may submit multiple questions and answers to increase your chances of winning.
  • Existing questions are not eligible for this contest. In other words, you can't resubmit a question you've already asked in the past.
  • Questions must be about a Festool product itself or an application using a Festool product.
  • Each question must be made in a new thread and the title of the thread must end with a question mark (?)
  • Question and answer posts must be substantive and meaningful to promote the sharing of knowledge on the forum.
  • Contest entries must be posted between Monday, July 25th 2011 and Wednesday, August 31st, 2011.
  • The ....

Prizes

Anyone should post anything they like, even if that doesnt make sense, what about me, I am not a pro.  My questions could sound trivial for you and boring, but I am looking for an answer.  Lets continue with the contest.

As with any forum new people come and ask the same "old" questions, only they are new to them and only old to those of us who either know or seen it before.
But to answer your question I have not noticed, but I am not on here a lot either.  ?    lol

Shane and others on the site,

It seems my comments have been taken as derogatory, which was not meant by me. I don’t know why anyone would take them that way. I guess it is how a person sees the world that affects their interruption of humor.

Yea…Yea I could get into Andy Kaufmann not being understood too…

This site is great for information about Festool and getting answers from others Festool users.

I just found what happens here normally as not being a new thing or a basis of a contests.  But that was just my opinion.

Shane, I apologies if what I said could be taken wrong. You’re doing a great job. Keep up the good work.
This site is great… if my humor was not your humor… I offer my humble apology.

Cheer,
Steve

I'm not going to pick at individuals or individual posts, but I do believe that new and old members post redundant questions because they either don't want to use the search function or can't easily or quickly find the information from the search engine.

I never thought that it would be so controversial to set up a contest that allowed members over the majority of the world a chance to get a free tool.

Lyrics from an old song come to mind:  ".... you don't know what you've got 'til its gone ..."

Fogged?

fogged? not sure what you mean by that... [scared] [eek]
and your song lyrics.... mean...  [2cents]

what about the song...

We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it

really I have no idea what  that means.... but I also got lost by your lyrics too... [big grin]

[popcorn]

Cheers,
Steve

i think it's logic that such a contest would also trigger silly posts to be made, why wasn't it done in the jigs and improvements section?
that could have possibly also triggered silly jigs and improvements, but at least you have to do something for it. and it would inspire many to come up with jigs and improvements that could benefit everyone.
i never needed the questions section because i could find all the info with the search function in older posts.

so funny enough in a certain way it is worth winning a prize if you actually manage to come up with a smart question or answer that didn't come up already lol.

I understand this viewpoint, but for us, non native English speakers, it is sometimes difficult to come up with the correct search phrase or word. I have often tried to search something that I'm sure I read on here, but just couldn't find it because I didn't use the correct keyword.
