I'm going to need to start another Cradle project soon and was thinking of building this one. Doesn't look like a very easy build to me. It is designed by Del Cover and was in Fine Woodworking October 94 #108. I got a set of plans from American Furniture design, but they aren't very informative or detailed for my skill level. I also ordered a copy of that issue but it hasn't arrived yet.

Just wondering if anyone else has tackled this project...looking for pointers.

I think I'd start with a shaker chair before tackling that project.

----- edit -------

make that 'windsor' instead of shaker.

i didn't do a project like the one you have pictured, but i have done a chair that resembles the cradle design, the only thing i could recommend is make your self a jig for everything, make a jig for the angled spindle holes, when you are using your lathe make all the spindles the same and then work off the center mark to re-profile the shorter ones, and make a very solid jig for your top rim so when you finish steaming the wood (if that's the way your going to do it?) u have plenty of places to clamp it.  What kind of wood are you going to use?

Here's a tip Wayne...  Build it bigger... Much bigger, cause babies have a funny way of not stayin so cute and tiny for very much time at all! ;D
