Anyone have a FLIR One/Pro?

Been eyeing one of these, but not sure if the Pro offers any signifiant benefits for my uses.  I'm far from a contractor/builder but do all kinds of work on my own properties.  I'd mainly like something that can help me target areas of energy loss.  I could see some nifty applications doing electrical work as well.

I realize that to a certain extent, it might just be a neat toy with a few practical uses.  Any thoughts welcome.

Falls under the neat toy category. Also mine failed after about 6 months of light use.

I purchased a FLIR One about 2 years ago. I’ve had great success with mine. I’ve located a hidden HVAC run, located leaky connections on ductwork, cold air infiltration in a closet...the list goes on.

I assume you have the regular One as opposed to the Pro? 

Immediate uses I have for this thing: 
1) Trying to figure out why my parents' house gets a lot hotter than it used to.  I assume the fiberglass has deteriorated in certain areas but it would be nice if I could pinpoint the trouble spots.  They're too old for the heat and I also intend to install a mini-split but feel like the insulation could be addressed too. 

2) Figuring out point of entry for a nasty rat problem at said house.

3) Figuring out source of a water leak, also at said house.

Hmm, now that I think about it, they ought to buy it for me.  [cool]

Yes, mine just says FLIR One on it.

The FLIR will definitely help with the insulation location issue.

I’ve been very impressed with the unit. It exceeded my expectations. It’s not going to take the place of a $5000 FLIR or Fluke unit but for $350 what the hey.

Last year I was doing a lot of kneeling while installing a Chilton stone wall. After several days my left knee hurt terribly but it felt and looked identical to my right knee. I could see absolutely no difference between the two knees. And so I took out the FLIR...

I bought one of these (assuming you are talking about the one that attaches to an I Phone, mine is a 6 I believe--), more for fun and something to mess around with. I have not used it or powered it in a while, if you are interested in a second hand one with barely any use let me know. I think I still have the box and can power it up to test it out first..... Jeff

I’m sure she’ll max the unit out.  [big grin]

We’ve used it to locate hot spots on the dogs before we took them to the vet. Took a couple of pictures, showed them to the vet and he easily located the problem areas. Turned out to be a grain allergy for the pooches.

I am a home builder and ended up purchasing the Flir C2 for not much more money than the Flir One. It has proven immensely helpful for work and actually very fun just to play with.
