The Planex is the right tool for a residential basement remodel, but this weekend warrior isn't going to hang 2500' of drywall just to buy a tool.  [big grin]

So, if I'm not going to buy the right tool, I'm going to hire the guy with the right tool to do the job for me.

Can anyone recommend the services of a Planex-using contractor in the ATL area?

I don't get this:

a) If you buy the tool you've got it for life, not just this job. Also the Planex is one of Festool's cheaper tools, surely if you are capable of doing the job yourself the cost of the Planex will be cheaper than the contractor's labour rate!

b) You really want to choose a contractor based on the brand of tool he uses, not his reputation, skills, etc?

I'm so baffled by this I actually think I might be missing some form of intentional irony!

I would buy the Planex and use it for your job and when your done and still dont want it post it on classifieds. You will get the majority of your money back someone else gets a deal on one.

Let me help:

First, I'm not a drywall tradesman and I can't handle the scale. I want a pro.

Second, yes, I do pick contractors based on the tools they use where I want a specific outcome. I do believe the tools make a difference, albeit not the only difference. Here, I want as little dust as possible. There's only one tool capable of that. Any company who is going to make investments in this tech probably has the experience and reputation to match. Where I was silent on reputation and skills, I didn't mean to suggest that they weren't factors. In this case, dust minimization is the goal for a project that equates to drywalling a normal sized home.
