Anyone Use a "Sacrificial" plug for the CT-Vacuums?

anyone use a 6" power cord connected to the power outlet on the CT? I have a CT-26 I got in december and ive noticed that the plug is starting to become very loose. I have to constantly switch from my kapex to my plug it cord and it is wearing down the outlet. I had a 6" 12/3 jumper cord laying around so i'm starting to use that, i rather sacrifice a little 6" cord over having to get my plug repaired.

Just curious if anyone else does this or do i maybe have a faulty plug?

I use a multi socket extension. I have a CMS with a fixed installed TS55 and a "multipurpose" plug-it cord connected. Therefore I do not need to change the plug on the CT, which annoyed me in the beginning.

I have a 3 way extensioncord always plugged in to my CT26. That way I can have up to three tools/plug-it cords connected to the vac. Just have to change the hose to the tool I'm using. Due to this I have not experienced any ware on the plug. Not sure how US outlet looks. I've got the european outlet on mine.

I have a 3 way extension zip tied to the boom on one DC and zip tied to the WCR on another. Like others, this solves the 'loose plug' syndrome as well as giving me more versatility when switching between tools that use a plug-it and tools that don't.

Both.   [big grin]    Numerous members have had this issue with their CT's onboard power outlet.  Leaving a 3-way adapter plugged into the vac such that you then plug and unplug your tools into the 3-way has been our most expedient method of working around the issue.

Hardwired a 3-way pigtail adapter with LED indicator into the Midi after my replacement Festool plug promptly crapped out a few years ago.

I guess I'm an outlier. I leave the cord plugged in to the CT and move the plug-it end to the various tools.

I don't have a Kapex, so don't know if this matters. I use the cord from my TS-55.

A few tools don't come with plug-its, RAS 115 for example, or my ten year old ATF-55.

I'm also an advocate of the three-way. I often am using the Kapex, Domino, 1010, and ts55 or 70 and got tired of switching cords around. Now if only festool came out with a splitter with blast gates built in so you could easily run the 27 and 36mm hoses without having to plug and unplug them.

I just picked up an extra blastgate to go with the wye adapter an my existing blastgate to do exactly that. I'm hoping it will save time and wear and tear on the hose ends. [wink]

Does the blast gate work with the 22?  If so, that couple with the y adaptor would save a lot of time hassle switching back and forth.

The "Y" works with the 22/33/26/36/48 and the blast gate works with the "Y". You could put two on it even.

I found it to be very convenient to install an outlet strip onto my WCR1000 upright support. The outlet strip plugs into the CT36 outlet which frees it from being plugged and unplugged into such that the less than robust stock outlet will fail prematurely. Also using an outlet strip allows for multiple tools or accessories to be left plugged in which is an added bonus.
