Anyone use knock-off Sugatsune adjustable mortise hinges?

This is for my personal home, need to build a pair of doors. Stealth/concealed, will be floating out sheetrock with panels flush to drywall.

I looked at SOSS 212 and 216 as indicated by the weight, but having to use 4 per leaf vs 2 Sugatsune which are adjustable, it seems like a no brainer on an 80 y/o house.

$500 in hinges is a bit hard to swallow, but I guess you gotta pay for R&D somehow...anyway, just curious if any one has messed around with knock-offs such as These.

$45 a hinge vs $110, just figured I'd ask. Only drawback I see is lack of instructions/specs apparently.

TIA

I used Sugatsune gas filled struts for a lift-top makeup vanity.  The instructions were nicely printed but completely inadequate.  I had to mount and remount to make it work.

But the hardware seems to be of good quality.  So I would not hesitate to try them again for other products.

Make a mockup before trying to mount them on the finished product.  Like I said, the instructions were seriously lacking.

I have used Sugatsune hardware before, but not those. I have never really seen any alternate to the Soss concealed hinges. Never actually looked for one though. In the cabinet shop all of the hardware is spec'd way upstream of me.

You mentioned "lack of directions". Does that include mounting location? Soss is very specific about location arrangement of the hinges to support the weight properly. That can be an issue with the so called knock-offs of nearly anything. You get something that looks right, but how does it function

I don’t have experience with either. With an old house, I wasn’t sure on the adjustability of Soss hinges? The backpage hinges seem just as finesse as the name brand in terms of install. I went ahead and ordered them so we’ll see what’s in the box…

The soft close mechanism was intended for overhead cabinet doors that drop down or for toy chests.  I was using if for a make-up vanity with a drop lid.  I looked up the instructions before I ordered the unit.  It showed the mounting locations and I marked them on the vanity before ordering.  But there was no reference to "minimum depth" and my depth was just 4".

The elbow joint would hit the bottom of the vanity storage area before the drop lid closed.  I tried a couple of other mounting locations but none of them worked either.  I ended up cutting a 1" x 4" slot on the bottom for the elbow to pass through.  I trimmed it out with some molding so it looks OK and nothing will fall through the slot.

Also, maybe I am a bit slow, but the diagrams were not easily envisioned. A few photos would have gone a long way to helping to understand.  Especially since the drop lid for a toy chest and the drop lid for a wall mounted cabinet had different instructions.

But the quality of the mechanism is quite good.  I would not hesitate to use it again now that I understand it.

There is no adjustment to the Soss hinges themselves. All you can do is adjust the depth of the pocket that they fit into.
