Anyone with aluminum pump jack system experience?

Thinking I’d like to invest in an aluminum pump jack system, as it has several advantages over hiring (or buying and storing) scaffolding.  I know the wood-based systems are cheap and much easier to build on-site and transport, but I don’t like the chance of binding/malfunction, and reading online it seems getting stuck is a common problem, presumably due to lumber quality or movement.
My applications include siding, painting, windows, up to 30’ off ground.

The aluminum poles/systems seem much more reliable.  Downside of course storing and transporting 20-24’ poles.  Seeing options from Metaltech, Titan, Werner…

Any experience with these or pump jacks in general would be appreciated.

I think I had Aluma-Poles.

The system works far better than wood that I started with.

The poles are not to bad to transport figuring you already have 20-28’ picks on the racks. One person can set up 24’ers. Longer than that two people male life much easier.

I purchased the steel/wood version and it worked as a one-time solution to install loft windows and reside the house. The problem is finding straight 4x4 posts and having those posts remain straight when in the outside elements. They just won't remain straight and then movement of the pump-jack system becomes a problem. Tough to move up & tough to move down.

If I were to purchase one again, I'd stick with the aluminum version.

Thanks guys…ya I think I’m sold on aluminum as they’ll be more than one-offs and even if my use isn’t that frequent, it’s gotta work when I need it to.

Systems seem interchangeable and not too different from one another but I can’t tell if that’s 100% true.

Also considering getting 12’ sections instead of 24’.  I probably wouldn’t be using 20’ long staging anyway so it makes sense to keep components around 12’ for ease of storage and solo transport and setup.

I think the 4x4's I used were 12 footers. They allowed me to reach anything I needed to do short of crawling on the roof.  [smile]
