Apple price fixing ??

Of course even my wife blackberry does that and just synchs up with contacts right through windows 7 contact list direct, her email , address book etc. That is a common thing, don't need Apple for that. With the blackberry it is so simple it takes about 30 seconds or less because contacts is right in the windows 7 operating system, which in turn is attached to her address book on her email account. And that is not even using the blackberry service.

I noticed that my iphone's contacts get screwed up when transferred into contacts in Windows 7 or when I had Vista.  Most of the problem are the labels I select in my iphone contacts, when transferred over show up as "other" or don't show at all in Windows.  Out of all the devices I have and even being a long time customer of Verizon and all those phones over the years, I still only trust my contacts to the iphone and like the quick access and customization to the contacts list.  One or two months and I can finally have my CDMA iphone, I still hope  [unsure].

Ah, iphone does not want to play nice with windows I am sure. I wouldn't doubt if they design it that way on purpose. Apple just does some of the craziest crap to keep their stuff dedicated and proprietary.

getting back to the original question.

i believe apple are price fixing.

i like a good bargain, just as much as the next person.
apple products are never a good bargain.
you pay the same price, no matter which shop you go to.

any other product, i can normally negotiate 10 to 20 percent off.
not with apple.
maybe if they did allow for negotiation, they might sell more units.......

they have sold over 50million handsets so far so i don't think they need to sell more handsets.

jmb, other htc phone will do the same as the evo i am sure but without 4g which is why htc are not releasing it here. Depending where you read 4g is 10-20 times faster than 3g

If I get an android phone where do you get the apps is there a UK android market or do we have to use the US one ? or do the phones download direct like my Nokia does with OVI (rubbish) store lol

You just download directly from your phone using the android market. I imagine it's the same in the UK as it is over here. How's the hand BTW?

Yes, I have the HTC Desire and download directly from the Android market in the uk...no problems at all.

Actually Apple can set the price points for dealers to sell at.

Case in point is Festool.

Wife and myself just did the upgrade here last month from Sprint to Verizon.  We considered waiting until Apple would allow Verizon to sell iPhones, but while doing the research, I have yet to see Apple fix their antenna problem.  Unless there is something out there I have yet to see, the Android phones, are the way to go.

Picked up a Droid X.  Great phone.

I love the "Wheres my Droid" app, for when I lose it......

Apple has that too.  Just yell out, "Has anyone seen an iphone?" and 60% of the people will pull theirs out.  [tongue]

This whole iphone/android thing is too funny.  It's like one gang against another.  Maybe someone can start a thread on boxers vs. briefs and let everyone go at it.

Iphone is always being mentioned as like Festool as too much or whats all the fuss about, and always being compared to this one or that. Well maybe there is a reason.  Yes I have an IPhone and I have Festool. Enough said !!

I'm a current iPhone 4 user and have had a Droid phone previously.  For me, the Droid keyboard was aggravating and not nearly the equal of the iPhone.  The iPhone text suggestions and auto correct is a lot better than the suggestions given at the bottom of the viewing screen on the Droid.  AT&T sucks and there's nothing we can do about that but Verizon just announced they are offering the iPhone shortly.  That's a good thing.  It's also much easier transferring music and video to the iPhone although it does force you to use iTunes and you cannot make changes on the phone itself.  I use it with a windows 7 laptop and mobileme works very well.  The video resolution is outstanding and the texting app makes it very easy to use.  The new version of iPhone has a much bigger battery.  I had the older versions and the battery died pretty quick on those models, not nearly so much on this one.  However, the iPhone still doesn't allow you to add a SD card for added memory and I now regret getting the 16 gig model as I had to delete music off to add videos I use while on the treadmill.  I do miss the speech to text of the droid (that was way cool!)  I downloaded the Bing app and it has a speech to text but only for search functions.  It works very well too.  All in all, IMO the iPhone 4 is still the top of the heap and the Droid is trying to catch up.  It probably won't be long before it becomes a real iPhone killer.

All I can say to that is: Different strokes for different folks. Not my experience at all.  :)

I decided to go with Android anyway I just cannot justify paying more money for less minutes [eek] and paying for the phone just to own an Iphone.

I think you'll find Android can do anything the Iphone can and more. Both are capable devices and it's a matter of personal preference in determining which is better for you. as for keyboard complaints on android, this has been very much improved and then some, not to mention the option of chosing an android device with a physical keyboard if you so choose. File transfer is seamless and as easy as dragging and dropping. If i speak negatively on the iphone it's just that there is this public sentiment that it is the ultimate and nothing can compare to it, the reality is something different. Either way the competition is better for both platforms in the long run and i think we'll be seeing a LOT more android enable devices in the future. Apple is going to have to really cook something up for their next device.

+1

If you use google apps it is a game changer. When using the GPS or web browser, the text completion on the phone *remembers* the search from my laptop. Other data exchange is painless. I can do it without being dependent on proprietary software. I also tether it for internet. Haven't tried the voice to text yet. I have seen it in use though and I was impressed.

I'll agree in that I dont really like the 'feel' of either of my keyboards on the droid 2, but I am getting more used to them.

And then, of course, I have Verizon since before the first iphone and have been very happy with the QOS.

I might consider an iphone for a future phone, but that is almost 2 years out

I like my Casio Gzone.

I like my iPod Touch too, but won't consider an iPhone or Android phone unless they ruggedize them the way the Gzone is.

It's one thing if you are in trouble somewhere and can't play music or browse the web; quite another if you can't call to let someone know you need help.
