Apple Watch finally arrived!

I think the apple watch is one of the dumbest things they have come out with.  I just don't get the appeal.  Maybe someone can tell me what makes it so special?  Is it so hard to pull the phone out of your pocket or unclip from your belt?

I felt the same about the iPad and boy has it changed the way I use my computer (only 5% of the time now) and having access to all your data all the time is live changing....

I think the name Apple Watch is a misnomer as this is not a watch but a highly condensed communication device where you have quick access to your most important data/information as well as health related functions.

Totally agree with the comment about the Edition version. 99% profit margin... Some people just have too much money to care.....

Kev, I am curious why you say you must have for your job, what makes this a must in your line of work?

I'm no apple watch fan, I also can't see the point, but my son said it would help him with navigation because it's quicker to turn his wrist to see the next turn then to look down at his iPhone.  I can understand that.

I can also see health nuts (meant in a nice way) loving the watch.

I imagine that it sends a taser shock into his wrist whenever he's about to get into an apoplectic fit with one of his clients.  It's "rant-activated".  You'll find that employers are starting to fund lots of apps to control their most volatile employees...

Check macrumor.com

Watch has been tested in shower/swimming in pool with mno apparent negative impact.

Apple even suggests to use water (hold under faucet) to clean the digital crown if it gets stuck/slow moving due to dirt (or hair) getting underneath.....

Note that my heckles were up mostly because of the stupid apple shop girl !!

If one stopped working after three months of swimming, apple will probably not off a warranty replacement ...

This is a SPORT version of a smart watch ...

Ironically that's a very real potential application that's relevant ... it's actually viable to monitor a conversation for stress patterns. The watch could provide a subtle indicator of change. Some advanced web chat monitoring agents do this now along with some call centre monitoring tech.

Totally agree, complete waste of time and money but bet your bottom dollar that we will all be wearing one this time next year

It is just technology moving forward. It is basically a small wrist computer. These things will get smaller, more powerful and more common everyday. In time, everybody will have his own personal mobile computer with him, that can communicate with almost every object around us.

Since this is one of the first it is very expensive, and knowing Apple, 3 times as expensive as it has to be. Later on there will be cheaper and better versions by other brands.

A lot of people are still waiting for a better (design or functionality wise) phone, tablet, and computer to compete against Apple...

Years into this and the only real competition is Samsung and they are copying most of what they do from Apple. Their original idea was to make it larger.

As for 3x as expensive that's pure conjecture and nothing more. All of their products are expensive (just as Festools are). Both companies are aiming for a specific type of consumer/business and have no interest in the bottom end of the market.

Ok.  I like my iPhone and iPad.  But this is one thing I doubt I will buy or would even use if given to me.  Maybe it is because I don't like wearing watches in general.  I guess I would rather hold a PDC in my hand than having this thing on my wrist.
