Hello all,

I have recently purchased the 500 for which I could afford and enjoying it. I had a question in regards to attaching aprons to bench legs. I used traditional mortise and tenon for the table but would like to try a dual 8x50 domino to attach the bench legs.

The bench is overall 82"L x 14"W x 4/4 thick. The aprons are around 80"L x 3"H x 4/4 thick.

The bench legs are 3" square at the top with 5" face and then turned down (I will include a photo). I know the larger 700 would be ideal but has anyone ever used (2) 8x50 stacked dominos per apron for a total of 4 in each leg?

I will also have corner braces and cross supports, but want to make sure that the bench will hold 4 people without issues.

Any help would be appreciated!

You'll have no problem with your design, but for maximum strength make sure the mortises in the legs do not intersect inside the leg. If you want to make it  even stronger, you can pin the tenons with dowels as well.

Thank you very much. Pinning the tennons would be a great idea and I did not think of that. The mortises should come no where near each other within the leg. Thanks again!

Two tips if you have not considered already:

A reveal is accomplished easily by adjusting  the depth gauge when switching from the aprons to the leg.

Check out this Video for using spacers to make two mortises. It is an easy set up.
