Do they still make the C 12?

If you're thinning about a C-12, get the CSX-that is a great drill.

Tom

I discounted it because of the whole "brushless motor" thing....

Thanks for all the input guys..

Give it the 30 day tryout, I think you'll keep it.

Tom

Based upon the posts it's between the CSX and the T15.
Price is a huge plus with the CSX and a lot of you guys love it.

The T15 brings the one tool Driver to the party at great expense and a lot more weight.
If ya'll say the CSX handles fasteners without munging up the heads it's a no brainer and I go to www.tool-home.com

I use my T-15 for everything beyond what the CSX will do.

I tested the T-15 (before I purchased it) by burying an 18" long 1-1/8" ship auger into a block of hard maple, I had the 90º head on the drill. Wanted to make sure it would drill studs to run EMT. Weakest part of the set up was Kreg holding the block a maple, ended up clamping the block to an MFT to finish the drilling.

I now despise the sound of an impact. To many years listening to them.

Come on Tom, the sound of an impact tool in the morning,,,,,,,,,,,, sounds like victory.... [wink]
Yeah, I know, some are worse than others. I'm not fond of an Air Hammer in the morning, on ANY surface or metal.. but hey, that's just me... [poke]
when many of the cordless Impacts first came out, I did not like the tinny sound of their impact mechanisms compared to my Air Impacts.

I LOVE the sound of my Milwaukee impact driver.  It means the damn fastener is coming out.

If a drill changes your life, you are using it wrong.

My two cents....

I own the CSX, C12, and TI15.  The CSX is a pleasure to use and the attachments are well worth the money. The C12 is powerful and not too heavy. I've never bogged it down and I use it in hard exotics. Again, the attachments are worth the money, especially the offset attachment. The TI15 is an excellent hammer drill and a fair drill. I don't own the T15. I like the ergonomics of the C12 better than the T15. The T18 is far too big for anything I do with a drill. I do have a big deWalt drill that I use when I have some extra heavy jobs.

My guess is that the next generation of 18volt Festool drills will have smaller and lighter batteries. When they are available, I'll buy one.

Life changing, no. They are very nice though once you spend another $400 on a centrotec bit set. I had all panasonic drills and impact drivers for years which were very nice. The convenience of the festool system is great and I'm happy I have it. At a cost of about $1500 for what I have it's hard to justify though for a drill, impact and a bunch of bits.

I spent 30 years in the automotive field, had my fill of the sound of impact guns. If I really need an impact I still own and use air units that will produce over 1000 foot pounds of torque. Honestly for larger fasteners I have used my air driven guns.
