Are we enabling the thief by organizing with Systainers??

...Systainers might be a deterrent because most thieves may not be bright enough to know how to unlink them!

LOL!!  I guess it is possible that they won't get the Systainer thing and move on to the neighbor with the SnapOn toolbox.  :)

I'm gonna walk back my comment on linked systainers being a theft deterrent. Having moved a snap on tool box I gonna say that a stack of linked systainers is easier!

Had about 2.5k worth of tools taken from my truck, they did not touch the Systainers they only took all my Milwaukee 18v, Mini Compressor and Nail Guns.  I guess they don't know what they are.

No kidding.  Hard to feel lucky after getting ripped off but I’ll bet it took a second to process seeing many of your tools still there.

My thought on this is "Never brag about your tools", "Keep a low profile and don't tell anyone"  Now about the noise [eek] give your neighbor earplugs.

This is the security method I rely upon.  I know that local thieves would
steal something that says Dewalt or Milwaukee.  Meanwhile, the fancy stuff, I may as well just leave out in the open.

That's what insurance is for....

And a .45  [big grin]

Especially when that 45 ACP is sporting a laser.

A statement sometimes heard in the heat of the battle...”I hate it when that little red dot is on my chest”.

I work on a lt of building sites in the UK and would say that the main things that enable thieves is people not marking their tools properly.
I engrave my name and postcode (some people use a national insurance number instead of postcode) on an area that doesnt get worn in use.
Then the tools often get a blaze of paint marking them so I can see from a distance if its my tool or box they are carrying.

I also never leave tools on site overnight, they get put into my van toolsafe. Secure.

As much as I'm happy for people who never lock their garage or shed its pretty stupid and if your tools go missing I don't have a vast amount of sympathy for people who can't be bothered to look after their own stuff.

Put a bit of effort in and it makes stealing your stuff too much bother.

I live in an area where people have no idea what Festool is, or what could be in a Systainer. Most people, I think would be clueless about what to do with a TS55, or a CXS. No offense to people's intelligence, but even trades I work alongside find Festool a mystery wrapped in an enigma. That said, I am investing in these  trackers inside each of my Systainers, just in case. Sadly, they only have 100 ft range...

I just saw those last Saturday at HD. Have you used them before?
What happens when the tool is outside of the 100 ft range? Does an alarm go off?

Yes and No. I think the thug who is save will recognize the festool systainers and take them first , just grab the handle stack nd go. But on the flip side the systainer makes them easier to secure, bring say 10 to a job site secure 10. you know what you got and where they are at. easier to store them in a secure area

If I,ve got this straight....even with tools like sanders combined in one sys, I counted up having 8 systainers on this smaller job...at $30 a piece, this seems steep to me ....I think I’ll walk/roll mine back to the locked truck .

I think some political choices that let of a lot of people with the theft gen in have a larger enabling effect...

Other than that; Wouldn't grabbing the Precisio not be just as effective as a few systainers with tools in $$ stolen?

If you think of it... the cost that society as a whole incurs with all the preventive measures against theft...

Just think of the number of cyclists that are killed in accidents because they gave up on buying bike lights because they get stolen all the time...
