Luke,
That is stunning.  It will look even more so when you get the hairpin legs on it!

What finish did you use?  It has a nice glow to it.

Thanks, Mike A.

Thanks guys,
Mike, I don't use oil often but I did this time.  Watco Danish Oil.  Natural.  Dying oak or maple usually doesn't works out for me.  The wood is too dense and alows little penetration.  A poly or lacquer doesn't pull the figure out much.  The oil popped the grain and gave me the satin finish I was after.  Originally I was thinking about dying the oak black but it didn't blend with the zebra wood the way I thought it would.

Luke

OMG That's stunning!!!! Don't know what else to say.

What I will say is your projects are amongst my most favorites to follow and for good reason.  The design and workmanship here is spectacular, I wasn't sure about your choice of legs as I was following the build but seeing it complete, you couldn't have picked better.

THANK YOU so much for sharing - Kevin

Very cool, mate!  Great compliment to your gorgeous speakers and amp.  What's next or is it complete?

Luke, Those are all terrific.  This is the first i noticed this project.  your chioce of woods was both surprising and perfection.
I don't think you could have made a better choice for legs either.  Fantastic!  [thumbs up] [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Shucks.

This was actually a pretty easy project...  if you have a domino.
I put a 1/16" wide by 1/16" deep grove on one side of each plank in the field.  Part of the "look" is no miters.  That means you can build the top rough size first.  Glue and clamp, then use the track saw to cut the top to size.  First glue-up and trim the laminated planks in the field to width less rails, then domino the rails, glue and trim the length.  Super simple.  I used 5/4 oak.  The bottom is 3/4" ply with 2" oak border domino'd to the plywood.  Match the top pattern on the bottom.  Long rails overlapping a short end piece on each end.  Same end grin look.  Again, you can get the dimension close when you domino, then trim to final length and width after the glue dries.

In a prior post you saw the lamination of the zebra wood.  After the glue dries rip it to width.  I assembled the sandwich with dominos and Kreg screws.

It was so nice not to have to make legs.  I hate legs.

I like everything but the curtains.  [big grin]

Hey, I looked on Etsy for a long time to find the ugliest 60's curtains I could find !!!!  It's part of the room karma, and yes, Floyd sounds amazing.  So does, Traffic, Dylan, Zep, Stones, Buddy Guy, and Jr. Wells.

Gorgeous system! I couldn't really get the scale of the table until now. One question though, where is the CD player?

Giving the amp a little tuneup. [eek]
