"Avacado" front small chest

Hi all,

I recently came across some interesting sycamore which had been in the ocean for quite a while.  The contact with the salt water seems to have intensified and changed the colors.  I needed to build a small cabinet to house the DVR and monitor for my security system so I opened up a couple of these pieces and book matched them for the panels.  The door front looks like someone painted a thistle or an avacado head.  The rails, stiles, top and shelves are figured Oregon big leaf maple.  I thought you might enjoy the piece.

I just can't seem to figure out how to post more than one photo so will add a third here.  Anyone know what I must be doing wrong that I can't get more than one to post?

Jerry, you're bumping up against a limit on the combined total size of images per message.  I think the limit is 125 kb.

And it's a unique piece, but that doesn't affect your image upload problem.  :)

That's a very nice piece.  Lovely colors! 

Regarding the pics, what I do when I have multiple pics to upload is to click "(more attachments)" multiple times before I start selecting the pics.  To me that's a visual reminder of where I am in selecting pics.  I'm not sure it that trick will work for others, but it works for me.

Very cool project!  I've been interested lately in projects where I can leave "natural" elements in the wood.

Regarding the photos, as Dan said, just click the "more attachments" option in the "Attach:" area until you have the number of slots you need for your photos.

Recently, I added explanatory text near the "Attach:" area to note the forum limits:
" Maximum size of each attachment: 125 KB, Maximum size of all attachments: 500 KB, Maximum number of attachments: 10"

Looking at your situation, you had three photos, each one is under 125KB, and the total of all the photos is 235.5 KB.  They should all fit in one post.

Thanks for the tips on loading photos.  I kept clicking on choose file rather than more attachments so that must have been the issue.  Will try again with some other post.

The neon monolith beside the piece is the worlds greatest dumpster dive.  My sister in law lives in a downtown condo in the Pear District of Portland, OR.  The ground floor has shops of all kinds.  One day a few years ago before Christmas she saw this thing sticking up out of the dumpster.  In she dove to drag it out for me.  It is some sort of a store display but it makes for an interesting art piece in our great room - the 1500 square foot former Masons meeting room that has 14' high ceilings with large plaster coving, arched windows with stained glass inserts and 100 year old fir floors.  Fun place.

That's why I click the "(more attachments)" link several times BEFORE I click the "Browse..." button to select even the FIRST file.  I.e., I figure out approximately how many files I want to upload, click the "(more attachments)" link until I have a have enough upload boxes, and THEN select the files for each upload box. 

The upload boxes are a mnemonic for me to keep track of the process.  Four files = four boxes.  If I think I'm done, but still have an empty box, then I know I've screwed up somewhere.

The creative process of making up the content (the "what") is vastly different from the logistical process for building the post (the "how").  Shifting back and forth between the right brain "what" and the left brain "how" is very difficult for me.

I think creating a bunch of upload boxes works for me because it limits the number of times my brain shifts modes from the "what" to the "how".  When I first create a post, I'm constantly in  right-brain "what" mode.  Then I think about adding pics to clarify concepts (still in right-brain mode).  Then I'll find/create the pics, edit them, and figure out where they belong in the post. (Still in right-brain mode.) 

THEN, I go through the logistics of adding the pics to the post.  (Now I'm in left brain mode.)  If I can change to left-brain "logistics" mode just ONCE by creating a bunch of upload boxes, I've limited the number of times I have to switch brain modes.  Once the upload boxes are created, selecting the files becomes pretty much automatic and I can shift back into right-brain creative mode.  For me this reduces confusion.

There are times when I have to wonder if I lost a gray cell somewhere along the line.  When I named the small cabinet for the image created by the book matched front door, I had in mind the image of an artichoke, not an avocado.  But, the fingers and brain wrote avocado.  So, for the record, the name is "Artichoke front small chest."  Sorry for any confusion.
