on my travels today i was going past this centre and had wanted to go there for a while so i popped in and i wanted to let all UK residents that it is the best festool showroom i have seen, id like to mention i have no tie to axminster tools and have never even ordered from them before. they also have a range of kreg tools and accessories aswell the staff there were very pleasant and not pushy at all had a good chat with one of the guys there about the new jigsaws and drills and he gave me a leaflet with all the new gear in including prices so i was very happy. if your in the area drop in you will not be disapointed

Lee,

I contacted them some time ago because they potentially had something I wanted that was NAINA.  After a few e-mails it was decided that what I wanted was not compatible with what I needed to do.

In summary, although the transaction was not completed I can say that they were as helpful and courteous as could be.  They actually seemed to be disappointed that they could not be of assistance.

I call in on my way back home to France from my mother's up in the Midlands when I can.  Trouble is its nearly always an expensive stop.  ;)
Last time I wanted a compressor which I'd order from Sittinbourne but got held up by the snow.  They couldn't find one so I wandered round the Festool display before heading off.  I was playing with the Vac Sys which I have been coveting since it came out when one of the staff asked if he could help.  He wasn't a Festool specialist, didn't know much about it - but talked me into buying one anyway.  Sadly he couldn't find one.  Then, just as I was leaving they had found one, but then had trouble sorting out invoicing our company ex vat for export (which they now have the hang of in Sittingbourne) Anyway, I said I'd go round the corner to Screwfix and when I came back they'd sorted it and helped me out on the price of some other things I'd bought- so I can only praise their perseverence.  Good for them.
As an aside, the Vacs Sys is fantastic - it is a huge time saver when using routers, sanders or domino/lamello on sheet goods and will even hold pretty narrow stock.  With a second base and all the different suction heads it is a small fortune, but I now wonder how i managed without it.

Richard.

Most things are priced right some things are little bit more but like every one els said the service is brilliant. I had a faulty Bessy stanley knife which is worth 8 quid they sent me another one and said they would pick up the faulty one befor they even picked up the faulty knife I had already called up to say the second knife is even worse.

They said we will send you another one and pick up the other 2 knifes.  I said ill have another but have alook at these so you can see whats faulty with them and check the new one your goin to send me to see if its faulty befor I get it safes hassle. He said okay take some photos and show me and explain whats wrong. He called me up and totaly agreed with the faults and said we wont be ordering any more bessy knifes because its poor quality.

I said thats odd because bessy is normaly good and I had a bessy knife befor but lost it and I loved it thats why I wanted another one. He said well I cant open the package because its a completely sealed package, we only have two left ill send you another one to see if its okay.

I recieved two bessy knifes which must of been a mistake one is okay and its just okay NOT good and the other is slightly off I gave that one to my mate for free.

Any way all that for just a few quid lol Would of cost more in post and packaging and they send two knifes and I only paid for one.

It shows how good the service is at axminister.

I called in here yesterday as I was passing through the area. I was on work's time, so couldn't stop long, but man, what a place! I only had time for a quick walk round the Festool display, didn't have time to look round the rest of the place. The Festool area is seperated from the rest of the store by a false wall, which is built like a giant systainer that you walk into! I couldn't help grinning when I saw it!

I asked if they had the new 18v twin-packs (jigsaw & T18) in stock yet. I told them I had no intention of buying one there and then, but they were still really, really helpful. They said they didn't have them, but that they had each tool seperately that I could look at. The jigsaw they had on display was the 14.4v version, so they got an 18v jigsaw from the store room so I could feel the weight of it with the 18v battery. Honestly, I don't think they could have been any more helpful. In the end, all I bought was another Festool t-shirt!

I'm definitely going to go back at some point, so I can have a proper look round. You could easily spend half a day in there! I noticed they're having a Festool day on Friday 1st July...

Never been to Nuneaton, but use the Sittingbourne branch alot.

Excellent service in Kent.

I have been eyeing those vac-sys also, they look great, how narrow a stock can you attach if you buy the adapter kit initsown systainer?

I bought my zeta in the sittingbourne store, very helpfull staff but they did not stock either of the two festool items I wanted that day.

Agree, but they will get them in pretty quickly.

I usually call or email ahead of my trip up the A2 from Gillingham/Rainham

I'm not in the shop ( thankfully) at this tme of night but I'd say 40mm as it's 32 mm wide. It's great for thin moulding, but I'd like to have two  ;)

[big grin]

Thanks Richard.

It is expensive, but with the price hike in the UK, perhaps at end of July 2011, now may be the time to take the plunge!

I would say you won't regret it. Use the Vac Sys all the time and absolutely love it it just saves so much time. How else can you quickly sand stuff without the clamps getting in the way?

[big grin]  Agree, that will be the excuse as I am progressing on my toylander build project, soon will have to sand!!!

But seriously when using 1/2 inch material, the clamping elements do get in the way, and if the pieces are small my bench dogs just do not hold the small pieces of material.
